Tata 15:48 - Jan 17 with 36369 views | raynor94 | Looks like up to 800 job losses to be announced, 600 at Port Talbot, a devastating blow for the area, let's just hope Tata keep the faith and see these rough times through

Tata on 12:53 - Mar 22 with 2448 views | raynor94 | It's going to be a crucial meeting Tuesday, I finished twelve months ago after forty tree years, the department I worked in the CES has been decimated with these latest cuts, the thought of the works going is truly frightening

Tata on 14:56 - Mar 22 with 2405 views | Dyfnant | Heard recently that Port Talbot still provides nearly 400 employees with company cars. These aren't pool cars or vehicles required due to the employees covering big work mileage, simply part of their pay package

Tata on 13:09 - Mar 25 with 2008 views | Dyfnant | Terrible news. Won't the unions push for cross matching at other sites, always seemed to be people screaming to leave at Trostre

Tata on 14:35 - Mar 25 with 1976 views | Private_Partz | I second this. I really think the EU, Westminster and WAG should be doing more to fight the Chinese imports. As soon as they gain the monopoly the prices will go back through the roof and we will end up paying as much as ever for our steel. The only difference is none of the local population have the benefit of the associated jobs and the local areas suffer as a result. I hope something comes up for you ASAP.

Tata on 14:50 - Mar 25 with 1955 views | max936 | The Chinese Steel is nothing like the Steel produced at Port Talbot, if its welded it cracks plus it doesn't take to well to coatings, its ok for appliances but not for most of the things that is made out of Tata steel, that's what I've been told anyway. The fear is that the heavy end will go with either Molden [spelling] in Holland importing slabs over and getting rolled here, or even shipped over from India where two new Steel Works are just about to come online, seems they bought the works over here attained the knowledge expertise and now see no need for the industry over here. Heavy end or no heavy end the future seems bleak, it goes without saying that it'll be devastating for South Wales.

Tata on 16:53 - Mar 25 with 1910 views | Private_Partz | Thanks for tha Max. I can only go by the majority of reports that have been blaming the Chinese steel for the problem. Once it is gone that is it unless a mothballing takes place so I am led to believe. I think times like like this call for some drastic action. We should be considering subsidising our steel across the EU or even a temporary nationalisation until a buyer can be found. Carwyn is happy to do that with bloody Rhoose Airport!!

Tata on 17:33 - Mar 25 with 1891 views | max936 | Most of the other Countries that deal with their Steel industry, have very high surcharges, America has something like a tariff of 266% Australia, France and Germany have similar tariffs, yet ours is 16%, something to do with the Torys desperation for the Chinese investment that's been promised. Tata on 14:34 - Mar 26 with 1740 views | oh_tommy_tommy | MADE IN CHINA you get what you pay for, cheap rubbish
| |
Tata on 14:51 - Mar 26 with 1754 views | Private_Partz | I really hope not. What usually follows is all those that lose their jobs move on to much lower paid jobs, temporary work and zero hours. These turn up as increased employment on Osbourne's book and the Tories champion this......as we head to the lowest per capita production rates in the civilised world.

Tata on 21:29 - Mar 29 with 1601 views | pikeypaul | Terrible news. 10 years time the place will be a theme park, with a couple of thousand minimum wage jobs.
| |
Tata on 21:30 - Mar 29 with 1593 views | NeathJack | And then the Chinese will ramp up the price of their steel and we'll all be left paying through the nose for it while wondering why we haven't still got a steel industry.
Tata on 21:31 - Mar 29 with 1592 views | exiledclaseboy | Disastrous for Port Talbot and South Wales generally. Not to mention everyone that depends on the place for a living.
