Spot on. Where as I always wear a poppy when I think of it, the gesture becomes pointless if everyone is expected to waer one. A lot of those we are remembering on poppy day died fighting for the right of freedom of speech and expression. | |

I don't get the 'outrage' at it. Like Toffee said it's a rehashed story every year. 'Mclean doesn't wear a poppy' shock horror. If he did start wearing one, it'd be a token effort, and pointless.

Surely this is just a question of basic manners? If I lived and worked in a foreign country (which is what the UK clearly is to him) then I would have the decency to respect their national days and the emblems associated with it.
Or to put it another way, if he really hates us that much why doesn't he live and work somewhere else? Somewhere where his religious intolerance might fit in nicely. Saudi maybe or ideally Syria?
