Personally think he is a brilliant option for us - we are 2 players away from being a complete squad as we all know. Great striking options when Jayrod is back 100% too.
I saw we maybe after Jedinak who I see as a decent squad player - can fill in a few roles too.

I have to admit I was a doubter of Shane Long but I was wrong. He has lost that habit of going down instead of trying to create (Tadic seems to have picked that up..), and his pace seems to frighten anyone. Plus he is developing into a great finisher. He doesn't seem to need lots of chances to bag.
Pelle will benefit from Soares who seems happy to deliver the ball from wider and earlier than either Clyneor Bertrand did last year, which gives him a chance to win the header. | | | |

I don't think we're learning our lesson with Long while we don't start with him. We were terrifying teams at home in the first few months of last season when we started with him: he always seem to force an early opening goal (typically having already been denied a blatant penalty) that broke the deadlock and usually led to comfortable afternoon.
Then we dropped him from the starting line-up... Then we started him against Villa, and the match was over by the 20th minute.
Less obvious away from home, but I fear we'll keep on treating him as an "impact" player and making life unnecessarily hard for ourselves. | | | |

Mane is our best player. He's scored 10 goals in 30 games, which considering the fact he was stuck out on the wing for most of them, is a very good return. He also creates panic in the opposition defence, which creates opportunities for others. He should be an automatic starter. Long is more of an impact player and a very good one at that. Totally agree, he'd be the first name on the team sheet. Really good player and a real threat, teams are terrified of him. We're very well stocked for striking options with Juanmi as well we have 5 decent options up front with all of them offering something a bit different. | |
