I think its a case of Monaco football club being exempt from FFP because they arent actually based in France, despite playing in the French league.

They get an advantage because there is no tax in Monaco.
So say a player is on £100k a week here to get £55k a week after tax (assuming tax rate is 45% ) in Monaco he is on £55k a week to get £55k a week. To the player, all they are worried about is the money in their pocket but FFP therefore counts the cost of that player at £100k over here and £55k in Monaco so they get an advantage. | | | |
