I can see these terrorists becoming heroes to many young Muslims and spawning a number of copycat killers. A French journalist was interviewed on Al Jazeera main news and was shocked that the first question they asked her about it all was, 'Don't you think the Charlie Hebdo journalists should apologize to Muslims now?"
The reaction of British news channels to such incidents always seems to be to find one kind looking old Muslim man and one pretty young Muslim woman and sympathize with them about how hard it must be for them.
I have spent much of my life working in the Islamic world, in countries such as Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Libya. I have found many good people and made many friends but the truth is they have been good people in spite of Islam rather than because of it. It is not, as the British news channels try to portray it, a tolerant or peace loving religion. Jihad or holy war against all non-Muslims is an essential part of it.
Utter nonsense. There is as much peaceful directive in the Koran as in the Bible, and as much intolerance and violence in the Bible as in the Koran. The problem is the fundamentalists interpretation.
One of the difficulties of Islam is there is no top dog. Any body can call themselves an Iman, there is no hierarchy within the religion, thus nobody to say 'woo there cowboy'.
True, but we are living in the 21st century and apply religious doctrines to the era, whereas they are living in the Middle Ages and apply religious doctrine to these times. The simple fact is that Muslims are not compatible with a democratic and tolerant country such as ours. If only we could turn the clock back and and have none of them here our country would be a far better place.
The barbaric practices contained in the Bible ended about a 1,000 years ago, unfortunately, it isn't just a handful of Islamic terrorists, it's somehow within their ( not all of course but in vast numbers) mindset to react appallingly at events or satire they find offensive. The Danish cartoons prompted widespread rioting across the Muslim world with thousands killed.
Christians would wave a few placards in the air, and wonder off into the night.
I'm not religious btw but the Christian population in the Middle East has been decimated by their appalling persecution by many of their Islamic neighbours.
Coptic Christians in Egypt face shocking treatment. Worse than this are the so called blasphemy laws in Pakistan and elsewhere, basically a right of people in that country to grab land off the impoverished Christian minority.
They've also seen their churches bombed into oblivian.
I do have Muslim friends who of course are appalled by recent events but sadly, too many of their number belong in an age incompatible with tolerant society. One more little issue which has been kept under wraps in this country, is the fate of some Muslim people who tried to convert.

Fair play to the French police/special forces. They did the right thing and shot dead the terrorist scum at both locations ; the brothers at the printing works & the scumbag at the supermarket. Unlike the British police at the Lee Rigby murder, where the armed police shot the legs of the two filthy pigs who had just butchered him, the French weren't bothered about taking them alive. We don't need to know why they did what they did at the offices of Charlie Hebdo magazine. We already know. They were radical, demented scum. Why give them their day in court? The French weren't going to imprison them for the next 30 or 40 years at a cost of millions to the French tax payer.
Take note Cameron. We don't want them alive.
Also noted today is the life sentence given to Abu Hamza in the USA. Yet he was allowed to spout his filth for years on the streets of the UK - the government scared to death to touch him for fear of a muslim backlash. Glad he finally got what was coming to him. Enjoy the rest of your life Hamza in a high security US prison. I don't envy him one little bit!

I couldn't agree more. Successive governments have walked on egg shells with Muslims and it's got to stop. When they talk about this wonderful utopian multi cultural society we live in they are having a laugh. You go into any city all you see is ghettos; Muslim areas, black areas, English trying to escape to the suburbs. That in my eyes proves that multiculturalism is a failed experiment.

You are full of shit. I live near Leicester (thankfully not in it) and there's Muslims areas, Seikh areas Hindu areas and black areas and they all hate each other. To suggest that all this immigration has improved society is bollocks. I'm not saying that the sheikhs, the Hindus or the West Indians are a problem, they are not like the Muslims who hate us and everything about our democratic country, but it is a fact that each group chooses to live separately from the others.

I know that some, most, disagree with the acts of barbarism, but why aren't their so called leaders stepping up?
It makes me angry to see innocent people killed and our freedoms eroded, and when you get politicians talking about our wonderful multicultural society it does not wash.
That is why there needs to legislation to force all religious institutions to comply with equality. Instead of us loosing freedoms which means the terrorists are winning we need to take the fight to the door of the mosques, the churches,the synagogues and the temples and to drag them into the 21st century with the same equal rights as there are in the workplace and society outside of these archaic sects with the ultimate goal of eradicating the evil of religion.
If Turkey, a Muslim country, can ban the veil to promote modernity and respect for women why aren't we doing it ffs.
