Relegation Form 18:19 - Dec 1 with 7805 viewsswanduck

I was a bit alarmed when my father pointed out we've had 10 points in the last ten games which is relegation form.

Had been very happy with how things are going myself, views?

My view is its a stupid stat. Quite selective.

If you take our last 5 games we get 8 points. Our last 10 we get 10. And last 13 we get 19.

Why is the 10 marker more relevant than the other markers that see us into a high mid table finish?

10 points in 10 isn't relegation form at all.

If you carried on averaging a point a game, then we’d end with 44 points, which is a similar total to each season we have had in the PL.

I think we’ll have our best points return so far.

Escpecially the teams they have come against but we have thrown some away such as newcastle and palace.

It is if you take the safety mark as 40 points.

We already have 19 points.

1 point per game for the remaining 25 games sees us with 44 points and will see us around the top 10.

I don't think 40 points will be enough this season.

That's not what I'm trying to say!I am taking the ten games by themself and saying our form over them is relegation form! 19 points in 14 games is not I agree, sorry if I was not making myself clear.

What do you base that on? What reason do you have for thinking that it will take a higher points tally than usual to stay up this year?

If you only took the last 10 games (for whatever reason), then it would still not be relegation form, as we'd be 15th on the table - i.e. all teams last 10 games.

But why 10? Why not 5 or 13 which gives a vastly different outlook.

Whats the significance of 10?

That was just the conversation I happened to have. 5 would be exactly the same 5 points in 5 games/a point per game.

I didn't think my point was particularly controversial, as I said I am very pleased with our current points tally.

I thought it was interesting anyway sorry if you all disagree.

No, not that I see how that's relevant.

Our last 5 games we have got 8 points which gives us 60.8 points come seasons end.

Our last 13 games (which is more accurate than both the 5 and 10 game markers) we have got 19 points which gives us 55.5 points come seasons end.

the average points total to stay up is 37 points (not 40 at all) and we'll comfortably beat that

Well I just asked him and summarised what had been said on here and he said

"well they have had 10 points in 10 games they're too thick to get it"

and now he's gone to bed. His words not mine.
