Bournemouth, what do we all think? on 13:42 - Nov 4 with 1280 viewsBison

I always look out for their results. A great Saturday is saints and Bournemouth win and Pompey lose. I could not bring myself to wish unwell on them.its. Spuds and Liverpool for me and not keen on Brighton.

Trust no one in a circus.

I'm sure they will see us as the cup final game, but we will never see them as nothing more than a little club like Eastleigh. Sadly we won't be playing Pompey for decades so it's the nearest we will get to a derby game.

Always liked Bournemouth. Lovely town, nice beaches, safe, fit women and no trouble generally.

Some of my earliest memories of the Dell are leaving and the stadium announcer saying their results and the Skates, if they won Bournemouth would be treated to a small cheer, if the Skates lost people would cheer like we scored a goal.

Good luck to them, we don't have anything in common with them really. Pompey is another working class Port City that we compete with for trade, commerce and regional funding. Bournemouth is based on the service industry and is a nice town.

I honestly think they will start to annoy us.
It's already begun with their fans calling us the scummers up the road. Huh? What's that got to do with them?
Next they will be moaning that by not seeing them as rivals we are patronising and arrogant.
I guess they are about as likely to get promoted as we are to stay in the top 4.

We are patronising and arrogant and I'm very proud of it because we do it so well. We've been looking down our noses smirking at Pompey for so many years it's our natural default position.

'We are Southampton, we don't care about you '

I used to quite like them but there been getting stroppy of late. Seen some of their yoof picking on saints families at service stations. They really are psyching themselves up to have a go so the bottom line for me is they need a bit of a slap. That said a team with Surman and Artur in it has got to demand some respect....

I would love Bournemouth in the PL a local drive, plenty of street parking and decent pubs, a good crack in the evening and still home in time for MOTD.
Sweet!

They are a tin pot, small seaside club who are totally irrelevant to us.

What irks them most is that there's plenty of Saints fans in Bournemouth, I was down that way the other day following a Bournemouth taxi with a couple of Saints kit thingys hanging in the back window.

It's a nice place, spend a lot of time down there in the summer, feels like you're on holiday. Can't feel any malice towards them whatsoever.

That's just it though, a trip down to that footballing backwater is a joke if the last time we were there is anything to go by. The old bill treated it like it was a category A affair with designated pubs presumably designed to keep Saints fans from storming the Nell Gwyn tea rooms during the lunchtime rush. The whole affair seemed to be an ego trip on the part of Bournemouth when the reality is we really didn't care.

I would recommend staying at the Royal Exeter Hotel for a weekend. I got very good deal and it turned out it was the trendiest night out in town. All the yuppie sandbanks set were there on Saturday night for the night club and separate live music bar.

If you did it at hills I think I saw an advert where you get your money back if you miss by one, if not unlucky.

That's a good shout, and a hamper of luncheon and bubbly on the cricket pitch before the game weather willing.

Though we are getting ahead of ourselves, it is early in the season and teams will start taking them seriously and it will get harder for them.

That's not a bad shout dune, done it myself with 'er indoors on a deal. Good location, across the road from the BIC if catching a 'show', probably not much of a goer for an away match day from Southampton - although for those of you from up country.......

Did you have the breakfast, I was well impressed fir the price we paid. I always say you can judge the quality of a breakfast by the sausages and they were really nice butchers sausages.

Especially walking to the front of the queue in the evening when everyone was getting sodden in the rain and being admitted for free as a resident in front of the hooray henrys.

I have always found the standard of a hotel breakfast to be somewhat lacking in comparison to that of a well run B&B. I'm not convinced the usual additional financial outlay is warranted in that regard.

Depends where you go. That one in Bournemouth was excellent and The Grand in Torquay was also very good although the rooms weren't the best. The room at the Royal Exeter in Bournemouth was the nicest I've stayed in in the uk. I couldn't fault anything about that hotel including the free parking which lesser hotels in the immediate area charged for.

Yep, good deal all round, top quality evening meal, B&B and a decent night out for around half usual price. Oh, and a good, hard shag.
