As an aside I see the small fakers (small faces tribute act) are playing the brook tonight. Worth a go if you are stuck for something to do. Saw them a little while ago - they were brilliant.

One of the best bands I saw at the Joiners was in 1994; S*M*A*S*H, who were touted as the big thing from The New Wave Of New Wave by the NME, Melody Maker etc.

It was a riotous gig. Was a top day, as I'm sure it was the same day we beat Villa 4-1 at the end of the 93/94 season the week before the 3-3 at West Ham. Abiding memory of the Villa game was Batman and Robin chasing one of our players (Maddison?) after he scored at the Archers end.

Good band, though, S*M*A*S*H.

I saw SMASH (I cant be bothered with the asterix) I dont remember it being a Saturday though, I have their album and i think they play the odd reunion gig in hertfordshire or wherever they come from

I also saw These Animal Men who were of the same ilk my memory tells me that was at the Maple Leaff club
