Its Koeman on 22:48 - Jun 13 with 1882 views | ClickInsect | I don't think I ever said I wanted it now? If it is Koeman, then I think it's a shocking appointment. Doesn't tick any of my boxes. He's a cheap option, that has never had any success in a league that matters & who's been sacked within a season both times he's left the Dutch League. He's also got zero chance of persuading any of the players that want to leave, of staying because he is not an ambitious appointment. None of the players being old enough to even remember him as a player. So we'll be looking at a sale, for hopefully the best money possible & a rebuild. From a guy that never stays longer than 18 months to two years in a post. So basically, a fooking horrible appointment. Only made more palatable by some of the other names the club have been interviewing. Heartbreaking, as after all these years supporting an average team, we had a chance to do something special. The rollercoaster looks like taking another dip.

Its Koeman on 22:58 - Jun 13 with 1820 views | patred | i was referring to what yousaid on the other thread.. "Could have sent his agent of course & waiting for his John Hancock, but people have been saying that a deal has been done for a manager for weeks and it's been bollocks for weeks. You'd have thought when somebody signs a deal, we'll know pretty soon afterwards. Post Script: Or how about now! " I also like how you give him a chance.. having a pop at him before the ink is dry. Deciding that the players don't know his reputation in the game.. Deciding we will have a firesale as a result Deciding even when he will leave Cheap option eh ! if this man had been available before the dwarf sacked Nigel, you'd had been in raptures if he'd got the job instead of the " Argie Judas"

Its Koeman on 23:09 - Jun 13 with 1748 views | ClickInsect | No I still wouldn't have had him over 4-5 of those available. I am going to give him a chance, I pay my money so I am entitled to an opinion. Everybody gets a blank slate coming in. I support the club, I don't blindly agree with the people that own & administrate it. I was around before they came & I'll be around after they go. The players do know his reputation in the game. They know that's he's not been managing at a level. Lovren, Luke & Adam are not going to withdraw transfer requests etc. because Koeman has been appointed. If you think otherwise, fair play to you. I'll tell you something though. If they do appoint Koeman, then it's going to be a stitch up for him, because he's now going to be responsible for any of the players that leave. Which is pretty slopely shouldered of the administration considering the damage would have been done before Koeman got near the job. He is a cheap option. He was managing a club that had financial issues in the dutch league. We also don't have to buy him out of his contract. I'd be surprised if he's on half of the deal that MoPo turned down when he walked. If he's on more money than that, then we've been fooked again.

Its Koeman on 23:14 - Jun 13 with 1717 views | SonicBoom | So Clarence wasn't itk then lol...... Fook me give him a chance. Two years ago we had Adkins. He was a no one but did well. MP was unheard of and did well. Now we have a Dutch legend. Brilliant playing career. He may well turn out to be great. [Post edited 13 Jun 2014 23:16]

Its Koeman on 23:17 - Jun 13 with 1689 views | BarnetSaint | I can understand your concerns click , but who ever we get is just the head coach for a period of time.'couple of seasons or so, of far more importance is the ambition and direction of those behind the scenes. So far they have been found wanting. Did not convince Pooch to stay and the timing of SRL's transfer was appalling. The next few weeks are crucial. Possibly damage limitation, get what we can for the 3 but don't lose any more and bring in decent replacements and some......
Its Koeman on 23:19 - Jun 13 with 1681 views | Del_Bianco | Which suggests he had got a pretty sizeable one as £35m was the one poch was promised, plus money from anyone sold. Let's here it for Kat, Ralph, Les and Gareth.

Its Koeman on 23:20 - Jun 13 with 1667 views | Heisenberg | He won't be a cheap option. And part of the negotiations he would have done will have been around who is leaving and who stays. I think Lallana and Shaw will leave but Koeman would have wanted assurances the money will be there to invest in new players. He plays the type of football we like and is known for bringing young players through.

Its Koeman on 23:28 - Jun 13 with 1633 views | 1885_SFC | It's times like this that we'd do well to remember we're Southampton. Therefore, we're NEVER going to be in the Champions League. Subsequently, the names of Ranieri, AVB, Benitez or Roberto bloody Mancini were NEVER going to come here - not with our financial restraints. Koeman is far more our type of manager... and a realistic one.

Its Koeman on 23:28 - Jun 13 with 1628 views | ClickInsect | Why wouldn't he have been a cheap option? Re. the points I made in my post. I don't know that negotiations would have run to who stays and who goes. How can it? It would only make sense if they were going on the basis of offers already received, or if they went through player to player and then set a threshold for what bids would be accepted. I genuinely don't think that Koeman was in a position to be asking for that level of power, or making those sorts of demands. As far as playing the type of football we like, I assume you just mean attractive football? Honestly I'd say that was a red herring, because with a few exceptions, you don't get many managers who are purposely trying to play dull football. Especially if you are talking about hiring a manager in from a lesser league, it's unlikely that they are going to play 4-5-1 in Holland and have a winning record. The thing with the kids has definitely counted in his favor. As has the way his team has performed in the past three years. I just don't like the level he's been managing at, what he's done when he's left Holland & his record in total. I see a guy that has walked out with his head held high at 2 of six clubs and I'm wondering whether we'll be in the lucky 1/3 & why on god's earth we are taking that risk.

Its Koeman on 23:31 - Jun 13 with 1614 views | ClickInsect | I think people will be more upset, those that will be anyway, with the realistic managers that we missed out on. That being said, I think he's the supporter's favourite based on polls etc. I'd say that was down to brand recognition, but seeing as it was Yakin before that I don't have a clue why he was so heavily favoured. Still a lot of people will be happy I guess.

Its Koeman on 00:00 - Jun 14 with 1529 views | 1885_SFC | I'm guessing that it'll be Pochettino all over again - as regards the unknown factor. In the old days, we knew (kind of) what we were getting with the likes of Strachan, Burley, Pardew - even Adkins. We knew what sort of football we'd be getting with each manager. When Pochettino arrived, no one I know knew anything about him or his style of management/play. Most 'smaller' Premier League clubs seem to go for some unheard of foreign coach these days. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. But like Pochettino, I'm sure 90% of the fans will adopt a 'wait & see' stance regarding Koeman. Sure he's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but all we can do is see what unfolds & how we do under him. The club make the decisions. We can only trust their judgement.

Its Koeman on 00:07 - Jun 14 with 1508 views | chasaint80 | Although we knew of them (strachan and pardew) I don't think we really knew if they'd be as successful as they were. They were both pretty awful in their previous jobs. Over the years and having had so many managers I've come to the conclusion it doesn't really matter within reason who gets the job. Those you think will be great won't and visa versa. However one thing does matter in this case and that is we need a big reputation that might yet convince a few of the wantaways to stay
Its Koeman on 00:12 - Jun 14 with 1491 views | 1885_SFC | Koeman isn't a huge name in the world of club management - but then again he isn't unheard of either. One thing he was was a bloody good player back in the day. All I know is - I'd rather have him than some dull fooker like fat Sam & his style of football.
