Near the start - Norden
Half way though - Spotland road and the old Victoria pub
Then going down to Spotland bridge near the now pavillion curry house. Ends at the rooley moor road and Edenfield road roundabout.
Excellent find
Right at the start the rise past st Clements at the bottom of Wilbutts lane and after denehurst park corner and the now old peoples home

Bloody hell, that's amazing!
The section at the end is obviously coming down Spotland Rd towards Spotland Bridge; other than that not sure. One section looked like the tram turning left at the end of Cheetham St into Yorkshire St, where the White Lion is now.
Anyone else recognise anywhere

I think the Yorkshire St/Cheetham Street bit you refer to is actually the top of Blackwater Street turning into St Mary's Gate at the end of Spotland Road. (Long since demolished)
I also saw one clip of BigKIndo having a cycling proficiency lesson but he clearly needed more intense instruction.

Fascinating. Rochdale in the age of the horse-drawn vehicle (and plenty of dung on the roads as a result). The electric trams shown can't have been in operation for more than a few years (late 1890s?).
Quite a bit of Spotland Road survives, especially on the right-hand side. At 3min 16secs where the boy is on a pony it's possible to see the name Emma St. Hoyle's butchers is at the top of Blackwater (2.49) - still a family business until at least the 1960s I think. | | | |

There is evidence of a V sign on film from 1901 and common legend suggests it was used as a gesture by English (mainly Welsh) bowmen at the the Battle of Crecy in 1346 [Post edited 28 Feb 2014 17:19]

Sam Hoyle was a long established butcher and he had several shops. One of them was on the old market, at the side of the steps as accessed from Toad Lane. All that was demolished in the 1970's to make way for what we now laughably pass off as our market. | |

Yes, the films were found in a shop basement in Preston during a re-fit. There was some footage found of football matches at the time -Burnley v Utd, Preston v Wolves and also Sheff Utd v Bury, with some great shots of the Blades keeper Billy 'Fatty' Foulkes who was indeed pretty corpulent.. Also some Rugby League and local cricket as well. Fantastic stuff! | | | |
