Even the prospect of only seeing Chelsea reserves seems to have excited Saints supporters with a decent crowd looking on the cards for tommorrow.
A quick scan around the Saints online ticketing system shows surprisingly few seats lft in the home areas for tomorrows visit of Chelsea to St Mary's, assuming that its completely accurate and that all available seats are shown on the system, most areas have very few seats avaialable, even the Itchen/Chapel corner where its usually the last place to sell out there are only about 300 seats available.
Of course the reputation of our visitors will encourage some of our less regular supporters including those with children to come along, the Premier league will of course priced out a few of those who have children who want to go, so this game perhaps gives those fans a chance to see a decent game at a more reasonable price.
Chelsea according to their own website have a small amount of tickets left of their 4,500 allocation although this story is dated 23rd December and with nothing of a later date it could be they have already sold these, either way with 4,000 Chelsea fans in attendance it could be that we will have a gate approaching 30,000 which would see us amongst the biggest gates of the round.
