There is reluctance to accept change. In reality we are just going back to the scenario from around 30 years ago when we played in the Welsh Cup. It’s good to see that common sense has prevailed and with cooperation, agreement and the backing from EUFA and the EFL it’s allowed us to compete in the Welsh Cup once again. It’s good to see and gives us the added bonus of having a reasonably good chance to play in Europe which has huge potential for the club. West Ham fans will tell you what a huge boost it was for their club recently. Newport still fondly recall their adventure into the 1/4 finals of the Cup Winners Cup 30/40 years ago. Cardiff too with their win against Real Madrid. Our win in Valencia. It’s all positive vibes. We are at the moment better equipped to deal with it too in terms of our standing as a Championship club. |

There are no guarantees and that makes Cup football exciting. So be it if we go out early. It depends on how seriously we take it. I’d like to think that we will prioritise it over the Carabao Cup certainly. |

Yes I recall the Merthyr games. I was at the Vetch on the night when Dai Webley made a fool of our centre backs. Mind you they were a good side then. I’d like see Merthyr play in this new Welsh Cup but it doesn’t look likely. There’s nothing guaranteed but these days Swansea are Wales number one club and playing in the Championship. Back in the late 1980s and 1990s we were a Dividion 3/4 club. With crowds of around 5000/6000. Wrexham are far more powerful these days too. Newport as well aren’t bad and TNS look ok. |

Yes I will. I always used to enjoy the Welsh cup games. It’s a different competition with the carrot dangled of European football which adds another dimension. I’m sure our fans who were at Valencia for example regard it as one of the best days in the history of our club. It might be seeded in which case it won’t capture full interest until the last four stage. |

Great news all round. Some welsh cup derbies, possibly European football to look forward to and it’s good for Welsh football. Very pleased with this. A Swansea v Cardiff final with Europe at stake would be a big event. A chance for some of our under 21s and fringe players to show what they can do in a first team environment as well. 👏🏻 |

It’s only four extra games throughout a season mun 😂 As things stand And yes the under 21 players can of course play if / when selected |

It was never previously a problem or an issue. Playing in our Welsh Cup and in Europe. Believe what you want to but it would be good for our club and for welsh football to have good representation in Europe. My one experience of it ( Malmo ) was amazing. Not the gsme but the whole trip and memory. There’s no guarantee we would qualify of course. Wrexham and to a lesser extent Newport and Cardiff might have something to say too. |

Of course you can 46 league Usually 3/4/5 league/fa cup games 4 games to win welsh cup 55 games in 10 months. No problem. And we could utilise our fringe players to get through the first game or two Where there’s a Will there’s a way always |

100% yes. It must be on the strict understanding that it doesn’t affect our EFL status. Now or in the future. But of course we should be in our own domestic cup especially with European qualification a good possibility |

I’d like to see Luke stay. We’ve had a decent season all things considered and only 2/3 weeks ago we played some lovely football against an in form QPR. That’s our way of playing. Possession with purpose. Two of the recent performances haven’t been acceptable. Portsmouth was awful and so was Southampton although that game illustrated how stretched our first team squad is. I’m not looking to blame the manager for that. The problems run far deeper. Review things at the end of the season as it looks as though we have enough in the tank to stay clear of the relegation scrap. |

Some laughable suggestions here fair play. Tony Mowbray, Ian Holloway, Craig Bellamy etc. Ignorance is bliss as they say. Not as good as the Anthony Wright suggestion though. |

A disappointing, poor showing from us today which underlined how weak our squad is. And the gulf in class between a ( poor ) Premier league team a mid table championship outfit. Naughton and Christie have been excellent pros but look finished at this level. Naughton could and should have done better for their 2nd and 3rd goals. Our keeper has also enjoyed a good career but he looked so short of match sharpness and wasn’t good enough today although redeemed himself late on. Defensively we weren’t up to it without Cabango and Darling and it could have been a lot worse. Luckily we only have Cardiff to play next 😉 |

Next time you go to a game, watch the movement of the players off the ball. Constantly on the move to make angles to receive passes and to get away from markers. You can’t always see this on TV but it might help you realise how difficult it can be to keep possession of the ball. And how fit you need to be. With a football brain. |

No just a Swansea City fan who wants us to win every game we play. I’m not jumping on the bandwagon of disliking an employee for some misguided naive comments. That’s trivial stuff really. |

Win or lose I’m hoping for a good solid performance that fans will be proud of. One that shows commitment pride and togetherness . Luke has done well so far so let’s hope it continues. |

“ He would take us up in two seasons that’s for sure “ For sure? I’d disagree with that. It would depend on many things. This team isn’t getting promoted regardless of who the manager is. He simply isn’t the right fit for Swansea in any case. He won’t be coming here so it’s a pointless discussion really. |
| Forum Reply | Sean Dyche at 18:19 10 Jan 2025
Absolutely not. Not under any circumstances. He would be a good fit at certain clubs but not ours. Defensively organised but that style of football belongs in the 1950s when your big centre forward could barge the keeper into the net and get away with it. Please god no. |

All fit players are in contention for selection. I repeat after 8 days without a game they will be ready. There is no need to “ rest “ anyone unless there are any ongoing niggling injury issues. Our squad isn’t strong enough to make too many changes without significantly weakening the team. I suspect that some regular starters might be on the bench but I hope I’m wrong. |
