| News Comment | Hughes Impressed By Saints Transfer System at 11:00:50
Hughes maybe impressed with the way tranafers are dealt with now under Ross Wilson. But if we had carried on under Les Reed would he? I seriously doubt it. Reeds last signing Carrilo, a club record, Hughes couldn't get rid of him quick enough. No one in their right mind would beleive Reed had bought well in any window he was responsible for. Even when he sold a player he did not replace the player being sold on time. As a consequence our playing squad got weaker by the season. That, combine with the last two managers Reed scorced nearly got us relegated. |
| News Comment | He Could Be Coming Home ! at 05:59:22
Liverpool have accussed us of over-charging them on several deals, they will use this to exact some sort of revenge. We have not got the time in this window to play their silly games. We just move on to the next target. It's sad for Ings, unless he puts in a transfer request and refuses to move any where else, this move wont happen at £20m. He will just have to do what VvD did to get his move. |
| News Comment | Saints Announce Big New Signing at 14:31:53
yep, one out, then one in. At least it is a replacement. Unlike our central defenders. I will be happy when that position is sorted, Fonte and VvD departures, along with the appointment of Pellegrino has sent this club spiralling from European qualification to near relegation. Ben Gibson and/or Gary Cahill would be the dream team in defence. Our interest in Jamal Lewis of Norwich shows we may be selling Targett to Fulham, and Lewis is an excellent prospect and a replacement for him. |
| News Comment | Saints About To Make Their First Signing Of The Summer at 00:24:24
He has scored on average 1 goal in every 4 games, he wont manage that in England. However he has a chance of making it if he finds his form of 2015-16. It's no secret he struggled last season after he lost his will to play in Scotland. It's a long time since we have signed a Scot. Let's give him a chance and a huge Saints welcome. If he does well, so do we. Now a central defender, then a goalscoring forward and we can forget last seasons nightmare. |
| News Comment | Saints May Lose Out To Leicester On Maddison at 09:59:38
It will come down to family, agent preference, yes, money will be factor. It will also come down to how each club sells itself, particulary future ambitions, the managers confidence about those ambitions. Ground and facilties will also come into it. |
| News Comment | Old Boy Hughes Could Look To Barcelona Striker at 11:05:12
he is at best a carbon copy of Gabbiadini. So why bother? Keep Gabbiadini and save the money for a couple of good central defenders. Carrillio has to go surely? We'll just have to take a loss on Pelligrino's last hope |
| News Comment | Saints Linked With Swansea Defender at 12:39:29
Mawson AND Gibson would be ideal replacments Fonte and VvD. Yoshida has been a loyal servant, but he has always got a mistake or two in his game. Stephens is just not PL standard, and the juries still out on Hoedt. Bednarek is one for the future. So we need both Mawson and Gibson to provide a solid defence. Getting just one, and relying on one of those already at the club would be false ecnomy. |
| News Comment | Amazing Fact !Saints Are 8th Longest Serving Premier League Club ! at 15:55:36
And the best way to assure we finish above the bottom 6 is to employ a manager, not an experimental coach such as Pelligrino. If that does not suit members of the board, those members should go as well. It should be the boards job to put in place a manager, and enough funds for his squad, then leave well enough alone, unless that manager proves incapable. |
| News Comment | 2017/18 Season Review - Alex McCarthy at 12:16:21
Yes, he made some great saves, as most keepers of teams under pressure do. But it was his command of the box, clean handling, and his courage to come out and clear with his fists that impressed me. We have never seen Forster do that, it's not his style, nor likely to be. Keeping McCarthy is a must, so let's here no more of signing Hart. We don't need a name we need a goalkeeper. |
| News Comment | Alex McCarthy Scoops Club Play Of The Year Too ! at 09:47:45
without any shadow of a date Alex McCarthy deserves the praise he is getting. We were all sniffy about him at first, but now he is be talked about as Englands No1. De Geo is the only keeper in the EPL that rivals his form. Even Jack Butland has looked inferior to him. |
| News Comment | Hughes Stresses Importance Of Quick Managerial Appointment For Saints at 16:13:41
If he is not appointed, it will be yet another indictment against the board and Reed in particular. It will also mean a different way of running the football side of the club. Hughes and his team will want financial backing to put right the wrongs of the last 2 managers. Recruitment will be for Hughes not Reed, and if Les don't like that, then he knows where the door is. |
| News Comment | The Premier League Eye Up Saints' Vice Chairman at 23:08:08
It will be the biggest party held at Southampton since 1976... I Can't wait to start dancing surely we can let him go earlier, as for compo how much do you think we will have to pay the FA for taking him. |
| News Comment | Mark Hughes Passes The First Test at 10:31:09
So there is still a lot of hard work ahead and tough games, but you feel that in Mark Hughes Saints have the right man to do it, certainly there is an aura about him lacking in both Puel and Pellegrino, but present in Ronald Koeman. NAIL ON THE HEAD..... |
| News Comment | Mauricio Pellegrino - An Overview at 10:07:52
As you said the biggest crime was not doing it earlier. The new manager will have to deal with that unneccesary legacy from Reed. He has only 8 games to rescue the situation when in truth double that number is needed. Now we need everything to go our way with our results and that of our rivals. If the new manager pulls this off it will be in spite of our DOF not because of him. |
