Oldham game
at 10:35 5 Feb 2025

On reflection, I thought Oldham were superior all over the pitch, and had been motivated by their Manager beforehand. Sadly, our team performed like 11 wet lettuces and Jim's post match interview was as wet lettuce as it gets. Get a bit of fire in yer belly Jim ffs. We all know we can do so much better than that. Apologise to the supporters and tell us they will do much better.

On to Saturday now, and fully expecting a resounding win and a reaction from everyone on and off the pitch.

We haven't laid a glove on them to be fair. Waters and Caprice have been the best players on show, whilst Hogan, Gilmour , Rodney and Mitchell have been very substandard. Waller my mom for Dale speaks volumes.

I take it you mean we have been second best James?

Missed first 5 minutes due to DAZN. From what I've seen, we are second best all over the pitch and slightly fortunate not to be two down. Linesman on main stand side is hopeless and missed a really obvious offside which could have led to a goal

More urgency needed all over the pitch in the second half.

Agree that the problem area of the pitch looks quite dangerous and desperately needs work.

No. The problem area is near the Police Box at the opposite end.

I'd imagine their photographer was confused by the sheer incompetence of the Dale Board of Directors who have known about this "non bouncing" area of the pitch for weeks yet have done very little to address the problem.

If the ball won't roll then heads must. At the very top.

Much better. Thoroughly dominated for large portions of the match and the scoreline did not flatter us. I said at half time that we were only a goal away from a big win, and the team did us proud in the second half.
Noticeable how we didn't pass pass pass for the sake of it today. we never allowed Yeovil a second on the ball and they couldn't live with our pressing game.

Well done to players and Management today.

Watching on National League tv. Centre circle repairs look ok, but the corner area between Main Stand and Willbutts is like a pudding. Not many there...can't see it being more than a couple of hundred.

As a comparison, Boston United's new ground which would probably be too small for us is thought to have cost £12m, whilst York City's stadium cost an eye watering £42m,

I thought the Council approved plans for 200 houses on the Drake St site not long ago?

Difficult one to answer, and would depend on who the other club was. Personally, if it were Oldham or bury, I would rather we never considered it. I think this would be a hugely divisive issue with both parties; don't you?

Agree with relocating to a new multi-purpose site (are there any suitable ones at Kingsway?) but I'm not open to an amalgamation with a nearby club. Fully agree that changes are needed throughout the Board and staff at the club. Unfortunately, all this will come at considerable cost.

A match thread anyone? Stockton v Rochdale FA trophy
at 09:45 9 Jan 2025

Listened on Tees Radio last night,. It sounded like a close game with Dale on top without really threatening to score. I always feared it going to penalties and it looked a cert that we would go out at 3-1 down. An amazing turnaround with them missing three on the trot.

Well done Dale, but congratulations to Stockton who put us a great fight.

I'll answer on behalf of everyone who hasn't got access to the pitch. We don't know. The last update was before the last postponed game, and it showed the pitch uncovered. The one before showed two very small rain covers which between them probably only protected 10-15% of the playing area. That's all we've had.

Surely ; given the awful weather we have had, someone at the club could take half an hour to update supporters?

It's part of a general frustration that I have (thus, can only speak for myself) about not feeling wanted or appreciated by the Board.

It's not down to one or two instances; this has been rumbling on now for a year or so.

I could name many things that contribute to the way I feel, but those in the Boardroom (be they the ones who put a great deal of their own money in to save us, or the ones who have taken a seat on the Board in return for services given to the club) should take heed. Without the supporters; there is no club.

At a time when everyone should have a huge amount of goodwill towards the club and the Ogden investment...something remains of the old school "them and us" mentality of the past toxic Board.

And sadly, I feel that, as predicted, the Trust Board representative has flown too close to the sun and is no longer any use to the people whom he is supposed to represent.

Provided we put the frost covers down yesterday, we should be ok for Saturday's game. Long term however, there's much to be done.
As Sandyman alludes; the previous work was carried out at huge expense under the watchful eye of a disgraced former CEO. Alongside most of the other work he oversaw; it's been nothing short of a shambles.
Let's hope he never ever gets to work in football again.

Its another baffling decision by someone at the club. We deserve to know the thinking behind it. Surely the trust representative must know how unpopular this will be.

Weve Just had a really good away winning performance, and then this announcement. Its like snakes and ladders supporting Dale.

I can only conclude that the person coming up with these ideas just doesn't get it.

Excellent post. There absolutely should be a full statement about today's postponement, and this should be coming directly from the Board, without the need for fan pressure on here or in other places.
As I currently see it, every single home game is seriously in doubt now as it really hasn't been too extreme weather-wise this last few days. we have had little or no frost, and several dry days.

It's shameful that we were the only game called off throughout the countries top 5 divisions and shameful that no apology /explanation has been forthcoming.

As others have said; they really do make it difficult to support the team we love at times.

An excellent post, and illustrates much of why I get frustrated. A very welcome 3 points last night, but would we have won had they not had a player sent off? Although we were on the offensive I didn't feel like a goal was inevitable.

East was superb last night, although he aside, our other midfield players seem too willing to play a slow or sideways pass that reaches players with their backs to goal. It's then much harder to generate the necessary pace to beat a defender.

Defensively, we do look better than recent seasons, and much of this is down to us preventing crosses coming into our area. We are also much better at blocking shots than in recent years with several players willing to put themselves in the firing line.

On to Saturday now, and hoping for a real barnstorming attacking display that results in us ending a remarkable WLWL sequence in the league.
