Everybody Hurts when we lose, but no one makes a Stand, no one thinks that it is the End of the world as we know it, they just feel fine

Wood is proven at Championship level, on a brighter note I watched a bit of QPR's win over Derby last night and Ronnie Edwards looked good and scored a decent goal from a corner (might have been a free kick I wasn't watching that closely) So Bednarek, Wood & Edwards might be a good combination in the centre of defence next season |

As I say this wasn't aimed at you, but at the general trend these days at Southampton and other clubs. I agree with you about the issues if you stay, but usually if we have played badly, I move down nearer the front as there are plenty of empty seats, which means i miss the last two issues. I agree with you about applauding the team off after defeat, that is the time to give them a bit of stick, when the final whistle blows, I am ashamed i don't do that myself. Possibly the biggest different between the old days when fans stayed to the bitter end, is that up until 1988 the pubs were shut between 2.30pm & 6pm, so there was no point in storming out and going up the pub as I would suspect most people do. |

You might not want to hear this, but in the 1920's when some of the Shipping Lines moved their bases from Liverpool to Southampton, there was a mass exodus to the South Coast from Merseyside of both the shoreside staff and those who went to sea. Southampton went from being a small town in 1910 with a population of around 105,000, to a major port in 1930 with a population of 130,000 and rising as more shipping companies mostly Liverpool based moved to the port with the opening of the Western Docks, by the start of the 2nd world war it was around 145,000. So a very large population of this city come from Liverpool roots, it could be said that this city was built on the influx of Scousers. Bournemouth saw a small exodus in the early 1980's from Liverpool, so it is easier to see these days as many of those who stayed are still alive. |

Truthfully we have become a set of fans who revel in leaving a game early these days, I am not having a go at Pat here, who is trying to inject some humour, but it is all over social media, people being proud of telling everyone they were on their way out of the ground on the hour mark. In fairness I did that myself at the away game at Bournemouth, so I am not criticising anyone for doing it, just for the fact that people seem to think it is something to be proud of. When I left the game early I didn't feel proud, I felt ashamed. When a team is 3-0 down at half time, there is a chance of coming back, we almost did it at Forest, I stayed for that one and saw a battling performance. 10 minutes to go and 3-0 down I can see why there is not much chance of coming back. The phrase "Rats leaving a sinking ship" is a term of insult, I am not calling anyone a rat here, nor as i say Pat in particular, but it is the principle of the matter, we are supporters of a club and all that word means, we should not be proud of deserting it in it's time of need, in the past supporters would leave the game early and protest in the Car park at the Dell, that sent a message to the board and the media that could not be ignored. Now when I see the "firedrills" at Saints and other clubs it doesn't make me laugh, it makes me sad as what the game has become, many hark on about the good old days of the game, but back then people did not leave the game at half time or on the hour mark, because the team were doing badly, they saw it through till the last 10 minutes. If you leave a game at half time because your team are losing badly, you are not "Old School football fan" you are part of the new breed of supporter. As I say I was ashamed of leaving that early at Bournemouth |

We will be regaled by mass chanting of "Scummers" by our neighbours from across the Forest this afternoon, but we don't seem to care about them as much as they care about us. We don't have a nickname for them as we do our Skate friends towards the East, this must rankle to average Bournemouth fan, in their average 7 years of supporting the club, it must upset them that as an established Premier League club, that they don't have a true local rival apart from perhaps Weymouth. So should we join in with their little game and find a disparaging nickname for them, if so what should it be. Should it be an obvious but fairly friendly one such as "Deck chair attendants" or should it be a llittle more vicious. Truth is I can't think of much about Bournemouth that distinguishes it as a town or a football team or for that matter a supporter group. |

Can we get over the 11 points mark by beating the Cherries today, that is all we are playing for now. |

My ex in laws lived in Saudi Arabia, it is not Quatar or Dubai they are zealots, in Western terms their laws & punishment etc are medieval, they are still chopping peoples hands off for stealing and other offences and beheading people in public, they are not going to let a few hotels sell alcohol . The only time you will be on the lash is when you get 300 of them. |
 | Forum Reply | So, the World Cup in Saudi Arabia then... at 21:13 13 Feb 2025
Saudi Arabia is one of the most strictest in the middle east, I would hope that they will be suspending the beheadings etc in the main square during the duration of the World Cup. It is illegal to drink alcohol in Saudi Arabia |
 | Forum Thread | Ticket Exchange/ Sell Out at 11:04 13 Feb 2025
Only 38 tickets left on the main ticket page, but 620 have been put up for sale on the ticket exchange, that is a massive amount, seems like some have just given up |
 | Forum Reply | Sulemana . Let's get behind him. at 10:54 13 Feb 2025
In fairness Sulemana has shown a bit of a revival in the past few games, but he has not shown consistency , he undoubtably has pace, but its about using it, he was superb at Man Utd, but he has been patchy in most of the other games, occasional glimpses of brilliance followed by drifting in and out of games. |

A good point, walk down he high street and shops are closing down all over the place, the way we shop is changing, its all done online and sent to your door. Whilst I agree that we should have a shop open 6 days a week at the stadium from the perspective that we are a premier League club etc, the reality is that to have a club shop in the city centre probably loses a club of our size money, when you take in rent, rates and wages, you have to sell a lot of merchandise to make it a going concern. I went to the club shop a few weeks ago as i was passing by, I was in there about 10 minutes and i was the only customer in that time. In the time I have supporters Saints, we have never been a fanbase that buys merchandise in big numbers, we spend our time running down the club and there fore don't want to be seen supporting it, it was like that in the 70's & 80's, it got better in the 1990's but if you went to the Dell the number of replica shirts per head, was far lower than going to a similar club like Leicester or Middlesbrough etc. Only Saints fans could spend their time saying boycott the club shop and then complain when due to a lack of business that it reduces its opening hours lol We complain when the club gets things wrong and money is wasted on players and we complain when those not involved with the playing side of things get things right and make money on their side of things. I try and apportion blame where it lies, whilst the playing side of things is a shambles at the moment, those not involved on that side of the club, have done things that have been a success and made money, the fan zones aren't my sort of things, but they are extremely popular and seem to be profitable, rejigging our retail business is another side of things, football is a very seasonal things in retail, the start of a season when the new kit is out and Xmas are it's busy period, the rest of the year its a lot less busy. From a vanity point of view, we should not be closing the shop, from a business perspective it is almost certainly a good move. Sorry for being sensible |

Why ? He has had little to do with us directly, he is the one man in Sport Republic who actually has a track record of success in football, we could do with him. |

I went to Goztepe when we played them a couple of years ago, it is in Izmir which is on a big bay with a port, not exactly a tourist destination, but it was pleasant enough and cheap as chips back then, although inflation has made Turkey more expensive these days. Goztepe fans seemed to like having a connection with us and made a big flag for the occassion, they should welcome you |
