I'm surprised the managerial stint didn't get a mention either (as you have said wasa very Villa Heavy episode with the Venables career influence the only QPR mention). When Marc Bircham was on UTC he didn't speak too highly of JG (same with Gallen on something else I listened to a while back) - JG pretty much finished their QPR careers though. |

Treat yourselves to the Patreon and have a listen to the Tommy Williams episode. Bask in the glory of how rattled he still is even now about "Pass it to Furlong". You'll struggle to find a person who is so in love with himself & his self-inflated ability. The Leon Knight 2-parter is like Rowan Vine & Tommy Williams rolled into one person! |

Who was his favourite centre back he played alongside at QPR with? I have a question for Gary Lineker too - I'm assuming he is still in Danny's back pocket? |

I just think most of us were glad to be back at the football with the added element of enjoying something near to 'normal' for the first time in 17 months. Anyway, when you score 3 goals in 5 minutes against a team most of us hate - the third goal a belter from a trialist - how can you not celebrate?! How often do we see QPR score from almost every attack? There was a cup match atmosphere & you get caught up in that. It was the first time in a while I'd been to a pub, had a pint and a laugh with my friends who I'd barely seen in person since Birmingham at home in February 2020. So when Lynden Dykes planted one past Lee Grant to make it 4-1, I celebrated that goal like it meant something. Because it did mean something. And that's what going to QPR is all about for me - a release from the stress & troubles of everyday life for a few hours. And no matter what team they put out, how strong, weak, old, young they were - its still great to get one over Manchester United. |

Lars Bohinen. 3 month loan from Forest. Took 6 weeks to get up to fitness. Scored 2 in 4 games including a brilliant volley from outside the box v Aston Villa at the Loft End. Marco Gabbiadini. Signed on a short term deal by Holloway after his release from Northampton. Always scored against us. Never scored for us in 10 games. Got dogs abuse in most games & was substituted in a 3-0 defeat at home to Stockport & never played for QPR again. Kenny Lunt. Replaced Steve Palmer after the 2002/03 season, Played a handful of games but failed to settle in London. Went back to Crewe. Roman Bednar. Short term loan during the De Canio era. Troubled by a Hamstring injury made little impact at QPR. Rodolph Austin. Signed by Warnock following promotion. Had a great season in the premier league. Suffered a terrible injury the following season. Was never the same player & drifted down the leagues. Paul Robinson. Short-term deal to provide cover for Rob Green in 2014. |

To quote Barton from his book; On his feelings toward Queens Park Rangers while on loan to Marseille after their treatment of him… “Meanwhile, QPR had sacked Mark Hughes and were being pumped on a weekly basis at the bottom of the Premier League. I was delighted. F*ck you, if you are suffering. It’s your choice.” Agree with everything Clive has already said. He was a bang average midfielder before he came to QPR - and other than a half decent season in the championship, was average to poor in the majority of his PL appearances. The biggest example of our recent demise has him near the epicentre. The club threw money at him ( I think in his book he said he was on about £70K a week, 4 year deal) - the only way they could attract him to QPR in the first place otherwise he'd not have touched us with a barge pole. As a QPR fan, would you really want him as a manager? |
