Mackie was immense, as ever, at Newcastle - first to come across to the away section to recognize the fans after running and harrying Shelvey all night. I like Manning and think he will go on to be a class player for us. We lacked quality on the ball and even though Washington was keen and full of energy he just got bounced off of Lascelles every time....he needs to be given a proper chance working off of a holding centre forward. Really liked the look of LuaLua, Pavel was quality and the best signing of the window without question, Freeman looked like Jay from the Inbetweeners and played about as well but hopefully there is more to come.

Superb write up on one who always played for the shirt and gave 100%. We need more like him and none of the p*ss-taking mercenaries that used to get picked before hi - he will be very much missed. Top bloke.
