| News Comment | Son Of Saw: I Need An Invite To Rams Player Parties at 00:34:45
Good article, Son Of; thanks. I hope you're right about Russell and Weimann being on their way, but do you think its really likely? I could see Russell going to Burton, if we pay most of his wages, but I don't see anybody taking Weimann. |
| News Comment | Bill's Take: Mascarell Not For Me In Midfield - But Who? at 06:28:28
Isak is described as a right-back who can play in midfield. He's very young and quite inexperienced. But he has quality experience: how many Rams players have played against the likes of Ajax and Feyenoord recently? If the choice were between Isak and Omar for the Chesterfield match, I might go with Isak. But looking further ahead to the promotion battle, I would go for more experience. |
| News Comment | Derby Up & Down!? — The Hypocrisy Of A Modern Football Supporter at 20:35:10
Ram fans are right to be nervous about a return to the top. But we can't choose when we go up; if the opportunity is there, we have to try and take it. The difference between this time and last is, we don't have an imbecile in charge. No Bob Malcolm this year. No Claude Davis or Andy Todd to prepare for life in the Prem. |
| News Comment | Bill's Take - Bland 'Pride Park' In Need Of A New Name! at 03:36:26
While iPro was not one of my suggested names, I clearly have some pull with the Rams board. So, if anyone has any requests they would like me to put to the board, just send them in to Ramzone. Be warned, reinstating Nigel Clough may be beyond even my powers... Bill |
| News Comment | Bill's Take: "If We Ever Get Relegated, We're In Trouble" at 05:21:32
I really don't envy ownership just now. I know I keep harping on the (financial) losses, but we are losing money just standing still. We need to go up to improve the finances, but that costs more money. And there are no guarantees... Bill |

Davram: I agree that reaching the top six is the reason for the recent management change. In fact, my original title for the piece was Pride Park, Money and Why Clough Had To Go. I must have missed Sam's comments; I sometimes don't pay much attention to what comes from the upper reaches of the club. Bill |
| News Comment | Bill's Take: Derby Need Promotion To Avoid FFP Monster at 22:37:09
Davenport: I don't think you can add owners' financing to the allowed loss. The limit on owners' financing means - the way I read it - that owners are limited in how much money they can put in to finance operations. It cannot be counted as revenue to reduce the loss the club made. And I don't see DCFC losses dropping year over year as you want them to. Rather, I think they will get worse as attendances drop. | News Comment | Bill's Take: Derby Need Promotion To Avoid FFP Monster at 06:43:25
Davenport: I don't want to give the impression that I'm claiming expertise on this subject; I just want to get some discussion going among Rams fans about a subject that is important to the club, but has been widely ignored. That said, I don't think it matters - from an FFP perspective - how much we lose for the 2013/2014 season, since penalties do not apply for this year. But it certainly matters for 2014/2015. So if Will Hughes has to be sold, it should probably happen after 30th June, 2014. And we will likely not be able to spend any of the cash received. That would be popular, wouldn't it? |
| News Comment | Bill's Take - Bland 'Pride Park' In Need Of A New Name! at 03:45:16
Davram: sometimes whimsical non-sequiturs are part of my sense of humour; sorry if it didn't work! The thing is, no fan wants the stadium to carry the name of a commercial sponsor, but the Toyota stadium - which may be a contender if the Rams chose to go that way - would be no worse than PP for me; that's how much I dislike the name. Obviously the Flint, Bishop & Barnett Stadium is a non-starter; they seem to be a sponsor, so I offered it as an alternative to Toyota. |
| News Comment | Nigel Clough's Top 5 Best & Worst Signings For Derby! at 00:12:34
Good column. I can't really disagree with the "best", but its surprising to see so many defenders. As regards "worst", I prefer to label as bad signings the ones that didn't make sense when they were signed, and then didn't work out, such as Martin and Tyson; rather than those that made sense at the time, such as Porter. That said, I would have thought any "worst" list would have to include Lee Croft. |
