Mackie on 12:17 - Feb 13 by WestbourneR | Flavour of the week syndrome will always happen that's the fickle nature of football don't fight it Northern! It's simple with Mackie. He badly lacks some aspects of technical ability and they are brutally exposed on the wing. He should never ever play right wing again. I have been a critic of his ability at this level (never his attitude) and I stand by it. However he comes alive in the box and his rather 'short sighted' dribbling style pays dividends. Plus his accurate shooting, his greatest asset, really comes into play. With Cisse out and Dj seemingly out of favour then Mackie has to start. Bobby Z was crying for someone to play closer too him. It's now clear Mackie is a centrally positioned striker. Taraabt is gonna have to take either the left wing or right wing berth. Have to say SWP is looking very very poor now. Last thoughts - Buzz will be flavour of the week again, you can just never throw him in straight after a lay off and he does have far too many lay offs. If we had 11 Mackies we'd lose every game from now on. You need to mix quality with commitment - it's about a blend. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Cisse out of favour ? As much as i love the passion Mackie brings with him i would rather see HH up front.

Mackie on 11:58 - Feb 13 by Northernr | the problem with all of this is we have a "flavour of the week" at the moment, and this week it's mackie. "Mackie must start," "we need a team of Mackies" etc etc. Fine, made a big difference on Saturday, nice to see a player putting it all in and posing a threat. But ten days ago after Aston Villa you couldn't find anybody on here who though Mackie should ever play for the team again. Prior to that Villa game we'd beaten Wigan with Buzsaky playing well, and suddenly Buzsaky was the great white hope and the answer to all our prayers and where has Buzsaky been and why didn't Warnock pick Buzsaky etc etc. Since then he's been injured (yet again) and fcking awful on Saturday. So now we're giving up on Buzsaky. And prior to that it was Taiwo who played brilliantly for Marseille and then got signed by AC Milan so must be good but as then written off after two matches (or even less from some supporters). I'm looking forward to seeing who the next one game wonder is. Evens favourite is Tommy Smith, marginally ahead of Samba Diakite. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

" But ten days ago after Aston Villa you couldn't find anybody on here who though Mackie should ever play for the team again. " Cant agree Clive. Mackie ,to me, is the type of player who will get us something without the fuss, without the oooh-look-at- me attitude that is so prevelant in the prem. I have always admired his attitude and from his TV work seen that he is a genuine good guy. Deserves to be a starter, with HH (if fit) or Zamora. JB should offer him the armband (not that he would accept it) and buck up or get off the pot!!!!!!! (ie. shitter )

Mackie on 22:41 - Feb 11 by PeterHucker | Only 2 or 3 of our players showed any spirit today and none showed more than Mackie. I'd rather have a player with limited abilities giving his all then a more gifted player who can't be arsed. |
Do you know what Huck most manager's would as well Not our poster's though if a player hasn't got it all he's just crap even when we in div 2
Mackie on 17:10 - Feb 13 with 453 views | W7Ranger | Well done Mackie. Finally a little bit of praise. Hasn't deserved a lot of the criticism he's received at times IMO. 2nd highest scorer for us now isn't he? 4 or 5 goals? Not bad for a crap player in a struggling team who's been playing out of position whenever he's played this season!
