A very winnable home game on Saturday, it has been an awful season, but perhaps the crowd can get behind the team on this one and we can get to the hallowed 12 point mark
Satisfying The Bloodlust Of The Masses In Peacetime
It is winnable but they will bring decent (and I'd guess) noisy away support and get behind the team. A helluva lot will depend on that first awful mistake/goal as to how both sets of supporters react Keep a clean sheet at least until HT and I'd feel slightly more confident of getting at possibly a draw
From their perspective, they are going to be seeing this as the most winnable game of the rest of the season.
I know we had the goal dubiously ruled out in the away game but it still annoys me that we played so pathetically on the back of the win against Everton, we that could have been the chance to push on but I seem to recall we didn’t otherwise have a shot on target.

..but the away fans are in a corner now so will no longer have an impact on the game. Our home kop, aka the Northam Wall, will roar us onto victory, like it has done er just once already this season

Dont blame our fans blame the incompetents on and off the field of play.
So the position of the away fans doesn’t have an impact on our results after all?
Glad we got there in the end
I don’t care where the away fans go. They can stand on the roof for all care. To say shouting at them from the sides makes any difference is laughable.

You used to care. The Northam should be home fans only, you said The atmosphere would be better, you said Having away fans behind the goal was costing us points, you said.
Finally the changes you've craved for years have happened and we've won one at home all season. I was looking forward to all the extra points we were supposed to gain, but it now seems to be down to the owners, the manager and our players not being good enough. Who'd have thought!

'the owners, the manager and our players not being good enough' You said it.
So having the fans in corners would have been better?
We have lost 23 games, have conceded 68 and scored just 20. Is it any wonder the atmosphere is poor.

The atmosphere is poor because Saints fans need to be next to the away fans to have them to bounce off.
That has been the case now for 50 years, back in 1975, Saints fan migrated to both the Archers Road and West Stand terraces to be next to the away support.
There have been brief times the Milton Road had vocal support in it for a while, but the main vocal support came from Under the East Stand, when the away fans were moved there, the Archers Road became the home end for the last 7 years or so of the Dell.
So I am not surprised what has happened, most people who have been going for the last 50 years, could tell you that, we have not had a true home end without the away fans for half a century and the supporters are just not used to singing without the banter between the away fans

I think you're missing the point old boy, so I'll help out. Results have nothing to do with where the fans are in the stadium, but everything to do with how good the players, manager and owners are.
That always was my argument...you used to argue different. It now seems you're agreeing with me...without actually admitting it to yourself.
Atmosphere is weird. It depends on how motivated the crowd is. Forest came up, have done well and the crowd are loving it. The noise is fantastic apparently. Would it be if they had been stuffed every week? The big clubs are usually poor because they are used to winning. They sit back and wait to be entertained. Liverpool was better on Saturday, probably because they were losing so they had something to cheer and then celebrate. Usually it's one way traffic. Our away support is usually ok but you can put that down to gallows humour this season. So basically the atmosphere is often subdued if you are either really bad or really good every week!
hard to be up for it when pretty much when you leave home you know youre gonna lose, saints will be shocking and the away fans will be taking the p+ss big time.

So you're saying this season the atmosphere would have been better if the Northam had remained the same.Sorry I don't agree with that thinking. The Northam fans were being pushed to a corner when the away support was expected to be big and the Itchen fans were being pushed along due to security concerns. Not sure where this 'bounce' would have come from considering the season we have had to endure.
I remember when the vocal support moved to Under the East Stand and it wasn't good, cant remember seeing much vocal support under the West Stand at that end either, they were bench seats that I remember.
When Saints fans were given the whole of the Covered Archers Road End is was the Home End and was good.
Football has changed, the days of mobs trying to get next to each other is History.

Don't old boy me and I don't need your help. A home end is a good move. If the team gave the fans some encouragement they would certainly be a huge asset but they have been drained of that this season. The Away fans have been magnificent and they are all together, not in one of your precious corners.

I’ve got absolutely no idea what you’re rambling on about in your last sentence and I doubt you do either.
