I would imagine they will play at the stadium to replace the Ospreys in the next few years. It is likely the women will press for ever increasing share of the club s budget. This is a natural progression. They will need to get to fans through the door and generate income.

Currently third in the table and they have won more than they have lost. Agreed though that recent results have been disappointing and improvement is needed. I wonder what the reason was for Dineen pulling out.

I am sure I saw a tweet where someone was very critical on how the women's team was being funded. The tweet was deleted 12 hours later. [Post edited 24 Dec 9:06]

I can't see that happening. Whilst they are in the Welsh league there isn't enough interest. They are lucky to get 50 watching them at home. If they stay in the Welsh league i can't see the club continuing to offer semi pro contracts as there is no revenue coming in from them unless the get to champions league. That is looking highly unlikely this season.

I can probably find that out. They certainly seem to have lost their way since coming into the club compared to previous seasons where they were pretty much unbeatable. It could be that he just isn't happy with the ways things are going.

Well yes and no. Yes - you are right in todays world. No - the future is to play for. Swansea City Women drew a crowd of 3,859 against Wrexham at the Swansea.com Stadium. A one off i know, but it hints at their potential. Our under 21’s get one man and a dog for a comparison. Lets see how the Cymru team qualifying for the Euros again generates additional interest.

If the u21 play at the stadium there is up to 400 or so and free entry. Not sure why they do not charge £2-3 for the foundation tap and go. I give credit to Leigh Dineen for funding them all these years as was reported. Another victim of the bad PR generated by the fans group in days gone by. Coleman intends to keep the Women in the Adran Premier judging by his words. He called it a " seminal moment for football in Wales". Some unfortunate wording I thought actually. No way will the EFL allow a match before a league match, those days are long gone.

Ideally 3000-4000 will turn up play ing perhaps £5 each with the food and parking facilities open. Fans on here have been lauding the Ospreys for giving up the synergies which Swansea city provided for them. This could generate £200k a season. They should be looking for separate shirt sponsorship. The Trust could do this to help membership numbers. This will presumably cost the club lost revenue. If the Ospreys ever player entertaining rugby the 8,000 capacity will be too small and they will be locking out their fans. I expect Coleman to rinse them if the want to return for big derby games at the Swansea.com. to get lost money back.

They could play big games if required at Parc Scarlets as they did 3 weeks ago. Being "rinsed" is what the previous owners did. This is why it has been suggested that if the new owners took over 12 months ago the Ospreys might still be there. Water under the bridge now things have moved on, probably for the benifit of Swansea citizens. A new 4g muti functional facility for Swansea with 8,000 capacity, expect music events to be announced on a regular basis.

3-4000, yeah, time will tell. Fans on here have been supporting the Ospreys move, well mostly anyway. One poster always attacks them for their move. If the Ospreys end up regularly locking fans out, they may be able to extend a bit, add another 3k on maybe. I don't know, I am guessing but it doesn't seem as wild a suggestion as some others. If Coleman tries to rinse them then they may just say to heck with you and go to Llanelli or stay at St Helens which costs the Swansea.com even more money, it's not really a bright idea. They'd come back here to make more profit, not to be rinsed.

Nice idea but as pointed out not feasible, I wonder could we have the kids playing at half or before kick off , I faintly remember games down the Vetch on a similar vein.

The move has cost the football club money. They will not expect any favours from the football team. There is talk of one of the Ospreys or Sarlets being scrapped so they might h not get a good price there either.

It is a business decision not an attack on our football club. If the Swans felt a move was best for them even though it may harm the rugby, they'd do it. Besides, I never mentioned favours and what you suggested was very mean spirited and would have been an act of revenge, a fair price is what should be charged and it should not be seen as a chance for revenge. I will say though, if the WRU scrap what has historically been the best performing region it would be an act of extreme stupidity to alongside anything they have already done. They are killing Welsh rugby while all the time reaping the rewards of their positions, high wages, priviliges and status that they hardly deserve. The international side has only won once in over a year and that was against the Barbarians. The whole organisation has been wrecked and the leadership muct carry the can.

Swansea pay around £300,000 to the council for the stadium I read a while back. This deal was based on the Council stadium being owned by the council and managed entirely by SCFC. Swansea city get all advertising and I believe the council might also get a cut. The football club would be very within their right to renegotiate if the council a have given the Ospreys ang incentives to leave I would think. The Ospreys are now RIVALS not partners. Someone mentioned events in the new St Helens box. They are going alone and if will be even tougher for them. The Scarlets will be the Rugby side of South West Wales. [Post edited 25 Dec 14:43]

The Swans would be within their rights to renegotiate given this change. That doesn't mean they should try and "rinse" the Ospreys though. The Ospreys are not direct rivals, it's a different sport to srat with and from what I have read the revamped St Helens won't have the level of facilities of the Swansea.com. They were never partners either, they were lodgers who will now have their own home. The last bit, that's your opinion. If the Ospreys are run properly there's no reason they can't compete. As long as the WRU starts making better decisions. The Swans job now is to make the best use of the stadium, to look after themselves as well as they possibly can and we don't need to worry about rugby tearing up the pitch anymore either. We have more to worry about thatn the Ospreys.

You are probably right on the matter of the pitch. It may be possible to extend pitch life without the 18st monsters churning it up. I doubt the Ospreys will be with us in 10 years but I could be wrong.

You could clearly see that the rugby had been played on the pitch in the last week. Played well but I don't think it would if there was two rugby games in two weeks.
