Lets talk about Tymon 19:05 - Nov 30 with 2013 viewsdantheswansman

Whenever i see his stats after game he is almost always up there on 6/7 chances created, whether that is good enough or not is what i am asking but
When i see him in the flesh i must see 80/85% of his passes are backwards, personally i think he puts in a mean cross when he can be bothered but he doesn't seem to be bothered to do that very often
Almost like he is scarred to take on his man?
Its infuriating because as someone who obviously watches the Swans every match i know he can put goal creating crosses into that box
I am wondering why he doesn't go for it more?
Am i alone in this belief?
I would love peoples opinions on him as a player, so lets discuss Mr Josh Tymon

85%
Nah
g least 95%
A terrible defender , good crosser of a ball.
Not a great tackler, therefore not a great defender
He was improving but has regressed
He has ability but needs coaching from a proper coach

Crazy how people see games differently.

He’s not the only one who goes backwards too often but he’s almost always our outlet when we are chasing a goal and actually attacking

This is Patches O'Houlihan saying "Take care of your balls, and they'll take care of you."

Clearly he didn't go today. If he did he's a WUM.

When a player passes backwards, it’s invariably because of the options available to him. We need to sort out the movement ahead of him to get him making progressive passes. That’s not specific to Tymon, it applies to a few of our players, particularly those that carry it forward.

Key is in the same boat, not a great defender but he gets forward at pace and he creates chances. It was him who made the pass to Cullen that created a massive chance for Bianchini that was wasted.

On that, CULLEN, he's looking more like a CAm to me these days, some of his passing and creating chances is very good. He's not a lead the line striker, he's not a winger, maybe try him at CAM?

Neither Tymon nor Key are helped by the players ahead of them. Both would be a lot better with a Routledge type who will drift infield for them to overlap, play little one twos to get them round defenders and slot in to cover them when they bomb forward.

Eom could possibly do that. It’s not Ronalds game and Peart-Harris probably shouldn’t be there.

People will (correctly) say he’s a central midfielder and shouldn’t be on the wing.

To me though, he just looks a long way out of his depth. Being out of position shouldn’t make him do the absolute basics wrong and look like a rabbit trapped in headlights.

Very early to judge him, hope I’m wrong, but he just doesn’t look good enough.

There is a massive difference between the u21s, where he was excellent even when he ventured out wide, and the first team. This is the reason players are not coming through, he needs a spell out on loan.

I if I was in my twenties I could receive the ball on the wing and 100 times out of 100 pass it backwards to the full back.

Have an uparrow.
It’s no good running fifty yards onky to stop and knock it back 30. The gain in yardage is minimal

A superior coach plays him there at international level and he excels there. Perhaps now is the time to bin Peart Harris to the bench and use Eom on the wing

Cullen was playing AM for us a couple of games before Bellamy played him there.

The worst example of this passing back for no reason yesterday was Ben. Around the 80th minute the ball was passed to him on the right. There was no one near him, there was 30 yards of open pitch for him to move forward but instead he turned and passed it back.

That's not to say he had a bad game, it's just the most blatant, single example of not needing to pass back I can think of. Tymon was always closed down very quickly probably because they know he can deliver excellent crosses so at least it's understandable then for him doing it.

I think Bellars has had a big influence on him and his game, the change in him as been quite significant in my opinion of course.

Both Tymon and Key are good going forward. Tymon puts some good balls in, and some awful, ones.
Key is good at going past players but his distribution is atrocious. He does the school playground thing of beating three then losing it on the fourth tackle.
They both can improve hopefully.
Defending, Key goes 40 yards inside his man , then struggles to close him down.
Tymon not as bad, but still poor at marking.
They are worth their places for now as we haven’t any better.
But if we are to go for a promotion push they will need to improve considerably, and be able to concentrate on their jobs.

It didn't help that he was having injections in his ankle/foot to enable him to play because we were short in advanced positions. Plus he was asked to play a lone striker which is not his game. Of course the Wales games have given him confidence but to credit Bellamy for moving him to 10 is unfair because he was playing there before the last 2 Wales games, prior to that Bellamy had him more to the right of midfield. Anyway the knockers have gone quiet for a while.

Abdullai is a great player used out of position. His excuse is he needs 90 min every week to improve I his confidence, reduce nerves and improve his touch. He runs and gives and collects the ball on the move.

Just what Williams needs.

If Williams started Abdulai anywhere particularly in midfield with the better options he has available he would be crucified and rightly so. Abdulai needs to go out on loan to get games, because currently he is useless and it's not helping him or us.

I saw a clueless young man yesterday in added time, mundanely wandering across the pitch with no idea what to do next when we needed to get the ball forwards. The crowd saw it and responded. He can’t beat a player, his pass back stats are shocking as well. I see nothing of any value at this moment in time. Same as MPH.

If that’s the time when he could have just easily passed it over to the left but didn’t know what to do, it was very noticeable.
