Match day pub.....and why. on 22:51 - Oct 10 with 3862 views | Boston | I'm a bit of a floater nowadays...was in the C&S recently, it was ok, but not my go to. Used the DF frequently, not for the beer, more because I knew a few people, White Horse was quite the fav for a while and the Shepherd and Flock is always enjoyable. Back in the day the Bushranger was a must, with occasional forays into the Goldhawk. Fck it, truth is, anywhere bar the Coningham.

Match day pub.....and why. on 07:50 - Oct 11 with 3650 views | BexleyHoop | Mainly the Shepherd & Flock now days. Used to be an O'Donaghues regular when I was a season ticket holder, but that was a few years ago now. Having triplet girls has all but put a stop to my Saturday drinking sessions pre & post match. Used to love the Bushranger and went on several naughty boys coach awayday excursions from there in my younger days. British Queen, Brackenbury Arms and Goldhawk used to be frequented in the past
Match day pub.....and why. on 07:59 - Oct 11 with 3619 views | BexleyHoop | Oh and Tommy Flynn's when the old landlady from O'Donoghues (Carmel?) took over and run that for a while. Now the Prince of Wales?? Remember it being quite lively in there after a few matches and being locked in very early in the morning when Stoke descended on the Thatched House in huge numbers on the last game of the season when they had a outside chance of getting promoted, Huge mob
Match day pub.....and why. on 08:59 - Oct 11 with 3513 views | Rangersw12 | Mainly the Askew although also use the White Horse on occasions Used to love the old Adelaide back in the day but now very expensive and now allow away fans

I remember that day because me and Hayesender had just got into the British Prince when Stoke turned up, fair play to the OB they descended fairly quickly and rounded most of their lot up on the other side of the road, the ones caught on the British Prince side of the road got a bit of a shoeing but your right there was a fair few of them. I also remember after the game the OB tried to bring an escort of them down the Uxbridge Road (past the Conny, Adelaide and British Queen) not the brightest of plans and it got a bit lively. As for pubs, i had two in the Vale club on Saturday (reasonably priced, in a glass and tasted lovely) i might stay in there for the Leicester game.

Match day pub.....and why. on 10:13 - Oct 11 with 3380 views | robith | When I first started going I always went to the White Horse. Loved it's idyosyncrascies like queueing into the corner and people trying to glass you when you ordered 4 pints of Guinness. Ultimately though it just go too shit, overflowing toilets, open drug use (and not just gear, once saw two lads tucking into a load of ket in a newspaper cone like it was fish and chips) and never being allowed in when we played Newcastle. So usually alternate between The Crown and Sceptre (seriously, some of the best bar staff in London, across multiple years. Only pub I never feel bad about there being a queue at the bar, they shred through orders) and the Shepherd & Flock which has a certain charm to it even though the quality of the pint is......variable. Adelaide runs out of beer and is an awkward shape. Some mates have suddenly become obsessed with Westwood by white city, but call me old fashioned, my idea of a beer at footie is not to be sat in an ikea surrounded by accountants
Match day pub.....and why. on 10:45 - Oct 11 with 3319 views | robith | Also has anyone else noticed a mad increase in away fans in our pubs. Look I'm a rugby guy so ordinarily I'd be advocating it, but for some reason it really puts my back up. Dunno if it was just cos Sunderland and Cov have big away followings, but just makes me v tense seeing a load of Cov singing outside the Shep Flo after we've been pantsed | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Match day pub.....and why. on 10:49 - Oct 11 with 3309 views | GaxZE | Started White Horse but then stumbled upon The Shepherd and Flock which used to have a cracking atmosphere and pint of Guinness. Now I go between O'D's, Flock and the Stewart arms. Stewart arms will get some away fans from time to time but it's nice pub, good service, footy etc and it's not as packed as others.

Away fans in the Crown varies wildly depending on oppo. Cov, Ipswich, Birmingham, Sunderland always a lot in there. Blackburn, not one. Never been a problem apart from when "Billy The Bee" from Brentford was parading around in his scarf after they'd won asking people to be on his "after match from the pub reaction" podcast and in the end somebody came across and told him they were going to stick the nut on him if he didn't fck off pronto. I intervened at the time thinking if we have an incident then it's going to be police, bouncers and bloody plastic glasses for months after. Simmo says I should have let him crack on

Use to go to Brentford occasionally in the 80's with a schoolmate, Billy was a minor celeb their then as think he was their only non-white fan, always had him down as an attention seeker, some things never change.

He got me one time outside The Groffin after we got stuffed there. Can’t remember which one. Thought he was alright, had a decent chat with him. His mate was more of a pain in the arse. Little bloke with a big gob talking bollocks. Me and him had words outside one of their pubs the last time we played there. I had “met” me of his ex’s who had told me he was a short arsed w anker so I relayed the message back to him.
