Willock - Last Night 10:19 - Sep 20 with 13049 viewscalHoop

I found it quite sad watching Willock last night. I didn't see a lack of effort, just a player that looked completely bereft of anything. Maybe we haven't realised what the injuries have done to him. He didn't want to take a player on, couldn't find that slight burst of speed when turning to take him away from the tackle, Just looked completely lost, sad to see.

Don't know if others think the same, I hope it's confidence. But, maybe he'll never be close to being the same player again, whether that's with us or somewhere else next season.

So the club have announced consistently about his injuries but yourself and others ignore that and say he has downed tools and was angling for a move.

You just contradicted yourself with your own reply.

The club did announce about his injuries.

I genuinely don’t know what you are talking about.

I heard it from a journalist that people on the inside of the club believe he ruled himself out to preserve a move.

His contract refusals are on record.

My take, is that now a move has not materialised, his inactivity and lack of fitness has fcked him and us.

It might not be what you want to hear, it might not even be true, but it’s a legitimate view of people in the club. It is a well worn path trodden by footballers, not least at this club.

As for what the club say, is it really out of the question that they might be protecting their interests (and dignity) by ‘exaggerating’ an injury to cover the behaviour of difficult players?

Can understand that being possible but I don't really get what the club gain if true from covering up Willocks alleged behaviour because they will know there are rumours anyhow.

It didn't protect anyone with Manning or Bright likewise. Think covering up a heavily rumoured misdemeanor makes no sense because it makes people not only mistrust the player but the club also.

Anyhow let's see how he goes in next few games. He is not going anywhere for the sake of his career if its not the injury he does need step up once more

Can't a reporter or podcaster ask direct about rumours so they can be denied as true by the club. Very strange

Do you people think his performance last night indicated he is on an upward curve? Honest question, I didn't pay enough attention to his individual performance to be able to say.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

He had a really serious hamstring injury where it tore away from the bone, had to have major surgery on it and Beale then brought him back into the team 4 months later when he wasn't ready, it's gone twice since then again so although I'm sure he wants a move and has an eye on next summer the main problem is he can't sprint as he used to which was a big part of his game

Again last night thought he did Ok when he came on, no lack of effort again

I thought he did ok too but I think he just needs something to go right for him, lucky bounce, the ball falling right for a shot at goal, just something that'll click him into gear and have him believing again.

Great to see the genuine warm embrace between Willock and Ainsworth at the end of the game last night,

A fully fit & firing Willock, hopefully Reggie Cannon can defend and play a bit, Colback returning and maybe Dunne or Clarke Salter in for Fox and we have a competitive starting 11,

Hopefully can then start racking up some wins asap to give the team belief they can push on and up the table.

‘I thought he did ok too but I think he just needs something to go right for him’

A £2m bid from Luton in January would do everyone a favour!

Some comments on this thread are very harsh but I understand the frustration among fans.
I tend to agree with the original post on most points.
Never really been in the camp who think he has been manoeuvring a move and is only “playing for himself”, although pre season and Oxford in particular no one could be blamed for wondering .

I genuinely think he is shot. He has a mental block regarding his body and his injuries and it seems impossible for him to overcome it. He just can’t sprint and can’t push off properly..it’s not he’s not trying…he can’t seem to do it .

I hope the club are taking all the right steps to help him .

None of us know what’s going on behind the scenes so bare it in mind that’s all.

We do know he hasn't signed that contract extension though, which suggests he is trying to leave.

I wonder if he's regretting that. Based on the last 12 months I don't think anyone is going offer him MORE than we were at that time - and i'd be shocked if our original offer was said on the table, it certainly shouldn't be
