Petrol lawnmower issues 08:58 - Aug 5 with 1914 viewswaynekerr55

Morning chums,

My petrol lawnmower starts and then cuts out almost immediately. I've partially solved the issue by not fully pulling the throttle back until it's been going a couple of minutes.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

Sounds like a fuel supply issue, old fuel , blocked filter perhaps ?

Could be the fuel jet or jets, the fact that it seems better when adjusting the throttle suggests that to me, damaged/blocked.

Would any additives help (like Redex) or are they a Red Herring?

sounds like too rich a mixture have you done a plug reading? Could also be a short on the HT lead or a bad connection , check your wiring . Might be gasket failure and loss of compression ?? Changing the spark plug might improve things certainly wouldn't do any harm start with that make sure gap is correct too.
