Things that get on your pips! on 09:38 - Sep 8 with 1867 views | Toast_R | Have you ever tried to sell something on Facebook Market? It's a hive of divs and chancers. I once had some numpty who thought he would come by bus to buy a drum kit from me and get it home in an Uber. Would have been hilarious to see to be honest.

Things that get on your pips! on 09:04 - Sep 8 by Northernr | Yeh hateful experience. I had a non-urgent thing, dropped into the place I'm registered at on my way to work and asked for an appointment. "Don't have any appointments." "Any? What, ever?..." "Next appointment I can get you is probably two months from now and even then..." "Oh. What do you suggest I do?" "You can ring at 8am for an emergency appointment." "But it's not an emergency." "I don't know what to say to you." Try for a couple of mornings to get through at 8am, finally succeed, get the same woman. "What's the nature of the complaint?" Outlines complaint. "That doesn't sound like an emergency, this is the emergency appointment system." Give it a couple of days, try again. "What's the nature of the complaint?" "I'd rather not say over the phone, it's a personal matter." ... "We can see you at 10.30 today." |
Nice one, hadn’t thought of that, I’ll give it a go.

Things that get on your pips! on 09:38 - Sep 8 by BrianMcCarthy | Then you make an appointment... You make it for first thing in the morning, the first one of their day. You show up at 8am. And you wait, and you wait, and you wait. You read the women's magazines. Because men don't go to the Doctor. Or can't read. And then at around 8.40 they tell you. "Sorry, we're very busy, we're running a bit behind". Running behind? How? I'm your first appointment? Is the Doctor still seeing yesterday's 5.30pm appointment? |
Honestly Brian it would be comical if it wasn’t so tragic. Our GPs have got a brand new state of the art surgery during Covid. You used to walk in, book an appointment for as and when, turn up to a packed surgery yet get seen in good time. The brand new place, I went in and they’ve got one receptionist now instead of two, only two of us in the queue when I showed up but as an old lady was a bit confused, fair enough, we stood there for over half an hour due to there only being one receptionist. She wasn’t giving out appointments, ‘you have to ring in at 8am or 12.30’. I had a peep in the waiting room, literally no one in it, that was the case the whole time I was there. Something weird going on as there’s still the same number of doctors listed at the surgery. I have heard GPs picked up a lot of lucrative private engagements during the lockdown and as such the shortage isn’t quite as it seems.

Once booked an appointment with my doctor for 8.30. He turned up at 11.30 citing heavy traffic! As Crowded House said: Everywhere you go always take a book with you. [Post edited 8 Sep 2022 10:32]

Things that get on your pips! on 10:28 - Sep 8 with 1727 views | Metallica_Hoop | I have to say when I went to ST Mary's Paddington A&E is was seen, X-rayed and given drugs in 4 Hours. When I left I went back though reception and it was standing room only, had it been like that at 11 when I rocked up I'd have left. (which may have been a very bad idea). Go early folks! (unless you break something of course)

And A&E is only as busy as this because you can't get an appointment with a GP. Or 111 have told you to go there as they don't know how to deal with your call to them! I'm another one that is pissed off trying to make a doctor's appointment! In "my day" you arrived at the surgery during opening hours & the surgery stayed open until everyone was seen. Here endeth the ranting of an old man!

Things that get on your pips! on 08:08 - Sep 8 by RangersDave | The subconcious emotional blackmail that companies use nowadays to try and convince you they are green and caring....... along the lines of... 'as we are a caring company, we are committed to helping the world. Therefore if you buy 2 packs of whizzo nappies we will plant a tree somewhere, so the more you buy, the greater the helping the environment!' Tell you what.....how about just planting trees and stop subliminally blackmailing your customers, you tossers! |
Agree with this. But...I do think you are starting to see an increasing number of companies doing this the right way, and the youngest generation are getting more cynical about big company motives.

At my surgery you can only get appointments using the online system. You have to fill out a long questionnaire so that they can decide whether or not they need to see you. Makes sense in principle although I suspect that the appointments still go to the people who exaggerate most.
