Match Thread: Blackpool vs Rochdale on 19:29 - Feb 16 by DaleFan7 | McLaughlin needs releasing as soon as his contract is up and someone bringing in who can be on the pitch, 28 games we'll have played in the league after tonight season and he's played 90 mins in 8 of them. That also seems to be his best return for us, too. [Post edited 16 Feb 2021 19:31]

If Mclaughlin is fit enough to be on the bench he should be playing! We can't surely be still resting him or nursing him?

So poor again. We sit way too deep and never press. Newby gives it away constantly. Its dross

needs 'resting' a while longer - weak in the tackle, misplaced passes, a luxury we can't afford

We're going to need some more cotton wool at this rate for him and Mcshane, jesus wept, stick a more than capable decent centre half at right back so he's worse than uncomfortable there and keep a right back on the bench....genius

He’s hardly the only one playing poorly. It’s uninspiring, uninteresting and unchanged much from MKDons. We look bereft of ideas and energy which has to be the biggest worry.

and it's what many on here wanted - problem is if you allow your opponents dominance of possession & territory chances are you'll go behind.

After the game i described against Bristol? Who've now gone into the lead at home to Portsmouth after conceding first... We know who you'd want to replace him, a player who's never been instrumental in gaining us points... and your description fits Dooley perfectly btw

1-0 at HT . Blackpool deserve to be ahead, but Newby had a great chance to score at 0-0 with just the keeper to beat. Can't say that Blackpool are great, but we have been powderpuff too often & there has been some poor control and passing. Not out of it yet but would like to see Baah on sooner rather than later. Mclaughlin too

Not watching it ( not putting another penny into this club), but did you really expect anything different while this amateurish manager is in charge.

BBM is just being daft now. Osho at RB whilst McLaughlin is on the bench is just silly. Lund upfront is just silly. Shaughnessy adds absolutely nothing to our midfield apart from a long throw, and was lucky not to set them up just before the break. He just looks slow to my eye. Morley is doing ok, if not spectacular or likely to dominate the game whilst Rathbone is struggling at times...at least he is working hard. Newby is being a show pony again. Jim and EOC have swapped sides a few times, which is strange. In a nutshell, we have much work to do to get anything out of the game. They, like almost all our recent opponents are much stronger, better organised and hungrier than we are.

Given our issues defensively and at full back, it must be worth trying three CBs with wing backs. The personnel we have does suggest it. Bringing Lund back into midfield would steel up the middle too. Too many square pegs at the moment.

Who are the many who wanted it? It’s about picking the right team with the players available. Lund is playing too far forward as has been recognised previously on here. Don’t understand the need to try why this is somehow down to what fans want, it isn’t. It’s not getting the basics right and identifying what does and doesn’t work. You don’t play 4-4-2 with a midfielder stood right up front and a central midfielder on the left touchline. You can play a narrow version of it with Beesley and Humphrys or a more expansive one with Baah on the left. In all cases of it you ensure that your defenders are not looking to join in as much too far forward as the centre of the park offers less cover.
