Anyone else go to this ? First time I seen it and in 84-85 terms we had good support, I can remember Bannister shaving the right hand post with a header when it was 0-0.
Funny thing was there was nearly 51K that day whereas the season before we played them last game of the season and the crowd was 2!K for Venables last game :-( remember us singing everywhere we go/Captain jacks ( with 2.5 K rangers StrangeR ??????) fickle racist scouse cnts
Was wearing a very fetching Kappa tracksuit top from Stuarts oh dear. Anyone else at either of those. I'm still gutted Terry went to Barcelona :-(
Thing was we had amazing support in 83-84 we really were a top 5 club on and off the pitch and on the catwalk lol and don't let any sick noncey tramp clothes wearing foolham wrong uns forget it.

Bizarrely, I was in Tallinn a couple of months ago and bumped into a stag do full of Liverpool and Everton fans. Most of them were great, but 1 gobby evertonian (30ish) kept giving me grief about how crap QPR were, worst ground in the country etc etc
In the end I bit and said to him that I had done something at Goodison that he hadn't... so I then advised him I'd seen Everton win the title. All his Liverpool mates roared with laughter and started giving him stick - he could give it out, but couldn't take it.
Needless to say me and my mate left the bar at that point as he was getting so much grief he was fuming

Ha Ha brilliant. The Scouse fans I've met when watching England don't seem to have much of a sense of humour when it comes to themselves !
It was strange the crowd the previous year (83-84) was so low as they were at Wembley the next week for the Watford FA Cup final
Talking about 84-85 this has to go down as one of the worst away games I ever saw - both performance and support wise. 24 secs to 30 oh dear !

I was at the Everton game, 13 year old kid at the time. I was born and still live on the Wirral and since the age of 6 supported QPR. My family are all bitter blue noses (Everton) and I was at the game with my brother in the Gwladys Street end with the home fans - had to clap politely as they clinched the league that day.
First QPR I ever went to was at Goodison in the late 70s at the time of Parkes, Francis, Bowles etc.
In the mid 80s the atmosphere there was amazing unlike the present day when it is another premier league library with the exception of the so called big games, very quick to get on the players back as I witnessed when we were holding them to 0-0 last December up to around the 30 minute mark I think. It was a sky Monday night game (feckin freezing that night and we should off done better than the 3-1 score line suggests - blame Arry's tactics that night as Everton were under great pressure after a series of poor results. But of course last season away under Arry we were terrible).
A lot of scousers do live up to the self pity city tag but it is a cracking city for a night out and quite friendly most of the time.

I was at Everton in 84 but not many Rangers fans that day, only a few hundred I think but memory could be playing tricks. I don't think we knew Venables was going at that point either. Couldn't face it in 85, I'd done my duty by then. Went to 40 games that year and we lost every away game except stoke. Coventry was always more interesting off the pitch.

Correction to the above, we nearly won at Anfield but they equalised with about 5 minutes left. There were probably a few more draws but it just felt like we lost them all away.

I was mascot at Goodison in May 84, think we got beat 3-1.
I remember walking off the pitch and the Rs fans singing 'our mascot is better then you're one'
I had to walk out with the referee which not only annoyed me but also captain , i think, Terry Fenwick who started arguing with him saying i was their mascot not his.
Got to keep the 50p they used for the toss though so not all bad

was anyone at the game the season after when we beat them at HQ 3-0 , that season Im sure they won the league , memory is a bit hazy but im sure Bannister got a brace , we actually tore them a new one that day, I used to love the plastic pitch against the big teams funny thing is I remember my mum dragging me to Langley or iver that morning to see her friend,(had to wait for the old man to finish work before taking me to football) over the park across where she lived was the Everton squad having a kickabout, with big Nev diving all over the place other good Everton games ive seen was the 1-0 Martin Allen handball and volley (top of the league that night , I think ) the 1-0 when Wegerle ran the length of the pitch to tee up sinton in 1990 the 4-2 sinton hattrick , rideout and big nev sent off and when that droneless pra t Hinchcliffe curled in a last minute free kick
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

PunteR : I started supporting QPR as I had the reached the grand old age of 6 and it was time to pick a team, QPR were top of the table at the time in 76 and I thought well they must be the best team in the land. As the saying goes you can change your wife but not your footy team so have followed them ever since. Probably only get to about 5/6 games a season but the Rs are part of my life and always will be. Went to Huddersfield away last Saturday with my 15 year old son - keeping the QPR family line going, the poor kid. It was quite hard supporting QPR in a Everton/Liverpool area but you have to keep the faith and hold out for the amazing days you personally witness like the play off final, Milk Cup semi final at Anfield, watching Sir Les, Dave Thomas, Andy Sinton, Taarabt (at his peak), Tony Currie (Wrexham v QPR in the early 80s), Stanley Bowles, Gerry etc etc. Here's a good one my daughter was conceived the night Cardiff had cruelly beaten us in the play off final, every cloud has a silver lining.
I had forgotten the best Everton QPR game was the game back in 93 when the super hoops destroyed Everton 5-3, Ferdinand ripped them to shreds that day and it was probably the best I have ever seen QPR play, the passing and movement orchestrated by Wilkins was amazing - total football. The face on my Everton supporting brother was a joy to behold.
This season I think play offs at least now, before the transfer window I thought we would lose Austin & Philips and end up outside the top 6 about 10th. Keeping those two and bringing in Chery and Luongo with Fer to come in there appears to be more fluidity & movement up front. The Watford lads look good acquisitions for this league.

Funnily enough I've only ever heard the "self-pity city" phrase from an Evertonian, never from a Liverpool fan. Always thought that showed a bit more self-awareness.
Always had more time for blue scousers than red ones. I know it's a cliche, but it's a fact that most of the scousers I've met were Evertonian and with one exception most of the Liverpool fans I've met came from Lancashire at best and more usually Aldershot.

Yes I went to this. My mate's dad had tickets for the director's box and I was sat next to Trevor Brooking who was commentating for radio. Kevin Sheedy and another Everton player not playing that day (John Bailey possibly?) were sat behind us.
They were the best team in the country if not Europe at the time and we murdered them that day.

I went to Goodison Park a couple of times Once was an evening game the semi final of the Simod Cup and we lost to a Pat Nevin header! The other was a morning kick off - lost 1-0 to a Tony Cottee goal and then the Grand National afterwards 1990 Mr Frisk won the race - I backed the second Durham Edition each-way

Yes I was there with the late greats Sniffer Edwards and Doug Soar and a few others. I remember telling a few Everton to cheer up they had won the league. We went on to Blackpool afterwards, which was ok for a couple of hours until it was literally invaded by Celtic down for Lou Macaris testimonial. Blackpool shut up shop and only let locals in to most pubs and clubs

Simon barker missed a last minute penalty, also went to the national after, thought party politics won that one.

I went in 83/84 & 84/85, both times on the special to Edge hill then the escorted double deckers from there. As the footage shows, we had a good following in 84/85. We took a fair few in 83/84 too for the last game of the season. If not packed, I do recall the terrace being well covered side to side. It wasn't televised but on Cup Final morning the next weekend (Everton v Watford), one of the channels build ups had snippets of footage from Everton v QPR and there was a quick view of a full terrace (blimey I sound like Cinzano!) Apologies if I've got this bit wrong but someone earlier mentioned the big sing-song. I'm sure that was Joe Hylton comducting from a terrace barrier in a left side-right side stylee.
