Can anyone who went tonight give a brief summary of the match and who our best players were? All of then judging from the score line! But for someone who knows next to nothing about the youth team, who are the ones who have genuine prospects of making the first team in the next few years? |
It is difficult to make too much of a judgment as Nantwich were a limited side that tended to sit back and tired markedly in the second half. Our defense was relatively untroubled and therefore I cannot comment on their defensive abilities. As a team we didn't really need to get out of second gear for most of the game.
Going forward we looked good in patches, especially in the second half when we worked the ball quicker and more accurately, with some well crafted goals. For me Bell looked a class apart, although he did miss a couple of relatively easy chances. Hasler-Cregg is skillful and good on the ball and I am sure his decision making will improve. Kisimba Kisimba sat in front of the back four and showed glimpses of the qualities needed for that role, against limited opposition. He is only a first year scholar who has featured in some of the bounce games.
Diba had very little to do, although his distribution was hit and miss at times. Schorah who played left back looked bright going forward and two of the subs Berry and Pratt made an impact. Berry who played in centre midfield always came looking for the ball and was effective in possession. Pratt looked lively upfront. Both of them are first year scholars and with another season may become genuine prospects.
Coventry will be a much sterner test and perhaps give a better reflection of the player's abilities, especially defensively. [Post edited 5 Nov 2014 7:43]
