Happy Christmas Loftforwords
at 23:36 23 Dec 2024

Great thread numpty,

Merry Xmas to all and a happy 2025.

I spent my childhood thinking I'll be well old in the year 2000. Twenty five years later I am not so sure I was that old then...

Love him.

He is finding time on the ball and is a great competitor out there.

Improving all the time...

I mean, that's what his Preston team mates would be doing in training, isn't it?

He had every right to play on. Tidy finish too.

Cut to the chase; Saito was very poor. Listen, I love him and think that he's played really well at times this season, but not yesterday.

He is getting up to speed himself and looked to be bullied out of the game yesterday.

No question; a fully fit Chair walks into this team, probably in Saito's position.

He started slowly yesterday, but that left side improved so much when he came on.

Where are the "Nourry out" comments now ???
at 22:18 21 Dec 2024

Said it on an earlier thread. Fundamentally there is only ONE barometer for ANY football club - how the first team is doing.

Freefall towards relegation and inevitably someone MUST GO. Not Marti, no, so who? The owners have all gone bar Reuban and some bloke we never hear from and they're just putting the money in, so we need them. Hooa and Sir Les have been hounded out to leave us with Dougie Howser CEO.

We are being run the same way we were a few weeks ago, the players are the same we signed in the summer. Varane improved, Celar scored so he was alright (2 goals in 20 games...), Madsen improved, but still not worth what we paid, Saito improving, Morrison a revelation.

The injured players are on their way back to be replaced by other, newly injured players.

BUT the results have improved, so naturally the noise will stop.

Yes. He got an assist after being out for three months. I suspect you thought he was hanging on to it for too long just before he flung it over.

Let's talk about Paal and Saito today before you have a go at our one proper footballer who has been out all season.

Everyone played their part in that turn round and if you think anything other than the left side improved immeasurably when Chair came on, I despair.

Post match curry in Simpton. Where? Me neither.

Nothing better than beating the Chief Shithouses after they spent 30 mins time wasting before going 1-0 up to spend 20 minutes time wasting before we equalise to spend 39 minutes tim wasting before we got the winner. Then spend the last 6 minutes moaning about our time wasting. Lovely.

Paal misses an open goal. Yet I scapegoat him. Useless t0sser. Saito well off it; doesn't like the physical attention. Cook damaged leading to the only time we looked in danger and, naturally they scored. Woodman's worldy (because of course - he will never do a Dykes here again). Kolli running gamely, but up against it. We're playing ok, but look totally devoid when we get to their third. Jimmy Dunne header still the most likely.
**sigh** Merry Xmas!

Ashby is NOT a left back, but if anyone on here thinks Paal is the answer f**k off.

All to do with recruitment. Paal is never going to sign a new contract and has, basically, given up on QPR. An average player at best, he's downed tools and is the worst definition of a "professional".

Need a new LB in on the 1st January.

Shocking how we ended up here, but here we are...

Married life even after 23 years.

No signal here, will be walking around. If it were a 3 o'clock, might have be able to watch, but, alas, no.

Think of me and the lad when Rayan gets his third, won't you?

More likely a hastening defeat though - 2-1 Michy Frey late consolation...

Me too!

Smyth is a Championship player with a L2 ability in the final third as his delivery and / or shooting is invariably crap.

BUT whatever way you want to try to dress is up, that was a bloomin' good cross that got us back in to the game. If only he can do that more often...

Not sure it was that good, Ned.

The difference between the parachute clubs and most others in this league is the gap between the best and worst performances. On their day, most teams at this level and the one below can give ANY team a good game.

But its the teams who can maintain that level who are the ones that succeed.

When we're off it, we get that first half last night, the second half at Blackburn, Middlesbrough (h), Derby (a), Pompey (h), first half v Sheff U (a), Leeds (a) - all totally unacceptable performances.

We look to be improving, but that improvement needs to get to the consistent state it was over the last 14 games last year, but even then we got Stoke (a), Hull (a), Huddersfield (h) and Sheff W (h) in that run.

...and yet in this game, it was his peach of a cross that led to Kolli's peach of a layoff and Field's peach of a finish.

Peachy.

Yeah, but how many teams go 12 or so without a win as frequently as we seem to?

Fairly sure that there is something more about our lot in that regard - go on a winless run, then go on an unbeaten run. We hardly win at home then lose away week in week out, do we?

Any stattos out there that want to do some crunching of the numbers?

Post win curry on the Goldhawk Rd.

Second half MASSIVE improvement, but still not great. But a wins a win. They were utterly shocking and I'd hope that is them below us for the season.

This league is crap though, isn't it? At least we look competitive now.

TFFT.

Every time this lot make you think you've turned a corner, they kick out those slop. This is truly dreadful; Pompey and Derby levels of crap.

This lot are dog awful, yet have all the ball and I can't help but think I've seen this story so many times before.

Back to relegation form.

We HAVE to be better this half, but then so do they.

Not good.

Fair enough. I just don't see it at all. Admittedly I focus on his bad points, but it seems like there is loads of them in each game.

I suspect that I simply think that with his attributes he really should be contributing way more than he actually is.
