Spot on!! Might be fairly decent but seems like lazy scouting For this sort of money quoted Clement must know young players with the potential to fill Siggy's boots, especially when you have coached at Europe's elite clubs [Post edited 17 Jul 2017 11:30]

Not as often as I would like but living an hour away from Swansea and watching the first team its hard to fit it all in. I watched around 8 games last season and I agree with some of the comments but I think the main thing I seen was the way the team played together. Reminded me of the old Swansea way where we didn't have the best talent at our disposable but everyone played for one another and put the graft in. I just think maybe a few of these kids could have a positive influence on our first team, Even a sense of responsibility for the senior players to show them what it takes. George Byers and Botti Biabi stood out for me especially with Biabi being on our books for some years now. Even if we just gave them some early cup games |

Just a little concerned by our transfer policy and why the hell we are not looking to bleed in some of our youth. The Under 23's had a fantastic season with McBurnie the shining light but yet there is no hint of him or any of that players in this squad making the first team. Signing Tammy I feel is a massive kick in the teeth if we are still looking to bring in Strikers. I would love to see McBurnie get his chance and honestly think he could be the next big thing. I also think the likes of Tyler Reid should be considered to replace Naughton at RB. Just a real shame that we are investing money into our academy but not bringing the players into the first team. Anyone else have a view on this? |

Some people talk some rubbish. We almost got relegated and this was partly down to the lose of a character like Ash. Alfie is good but lets cut the overhype nonsense out!! he made a lot of mistakes and still has a long way to go before you compare him with Ash. Plenty of potential but that's all it is, lets see how he does this season and then judge him. I think he has the ability and we are very lucky to have him but take a bit of pressure on him |

Being stated that this guy has a 12.5m release clause in his contract. Also agree the 5m bargain buys will not work long term |

i don't agree sorry, there is a certain Southampton Player who is now being inked for 50M move. Pretty sure we were heavily linked and missed out. Simple fact is buy quality. The commercial revenue the club generate and also the TV money is more than enough to fund this sort of move. We need to stop wasting money on people who are just hanging on to fill up the squad with the likes of Dyer for example and just get them off the wage bill. |

Not pinning the blame solely on him but face the facts!!! our defence as a whole was poor and the cover in front of them being worse, especially Cork. Clement brought in Britton who eased the pressure and therefore the defence performed better but Alfie is not the finished article like many of you are stating on here. He did make a lot of mistakes and yes he is young and learning his trade but seriously don't hype him up |

Very short sighted view to be honest. 20 mil for the key area we need and I would imagine it would be slightly less than that. The sell on value of this type of player too, the three you mention are not on the same level and we want to move forward not be scrapping for relegation once again |

How many of the teams in the prem has succeeded with this approach? Plus Homegrown players transfer fees are inflated |

About time we added some real quality to our side with many falling short and some key areas needed for improvement. Limited budget as always but feel that a few will be shipped out this season with hopefully KI and Montero being the first to take the big boot!!. Below is the players who I think could make the difference and within our budget. Allan Saint-Maximin (LW) (Monaco) - spent last season on loan at SC Bastia and played his part but didn't hit the heights people were expecting. Saying that though this guy is in the France Youth set up and his raw pace is frightening. Very direct runner and has a few tricks up his sleeve. He does have a lot to work on but under the right coach AKA Clement I think he will be the next superstar from France. Cant see him getting a chance in the current first team at Monaco if they hold to there current crop of players but would really add something to our team. Possible loan deal Ruben Semendo (CB) (Sporting Lisbon) - At 22 this guy is really showing the makings of a world class centre half. Strong physical presence with pace to burn. A lot of teams sniffing around but would show some real intent if we were to snap him up. Transfer fee could be around 12 to 15 mil but wages would be well within budget with the Portuguese league not paying out mass wages. If people are raving about Mawson then this lad would really get the crowd on there feet. Kelechi Iheanacho (STR) (Man City) - Don't think I need to say much about this guy. Goals to game ratios are fantastic and for me I think he is on par with Rashford. I think Man city would be keen to see him loaned out to another Prem team and playing first team football as he is too much of a gamble to be a first team player with Man City currently. Loan deal would be on the cards and reminds me of when Lukaku went to West Brom to prove a point!! Timothy Fosu-Mensah (CM) (Man Utd) - Again Loan deal but with a point to prove. This guy is discipline in the holding midfield role and has that bit of class. Different league to the likes of Cork and would add some steel to our backline. Think United would be keen on a loan deal too and should be a priority for the Swans Luis Pedro Cavanda (RB) (Galatasaray) - Serious upgrade on current Right backs and good at getting forward. He is built like a tank and is not short of pace. For me I believe he can sometimes lack a bit of concentration but reliable for the majority of the time. I also think we could get him on the cheap Could go on and on with targets but I think these players would fit in with our current wages structure and are realistic. Each player would be an upgrade and bot just adding squad players like people have mention |

I agree with the comments about Naughton and he does have a good ability to get forward and I believe he is the only wide player we have who can actually put a cross in before we brought in Olsson. Defence duties though he so easy to get pass and always looking for the last ditch tackle to save his ass!! |

Just talking sense, I loved the seasons when we were in the championship and had players with desire and passion which made up for there overall ability. Things are different now being the prem league and this alone is not enough and Gunter for me has the quality's as mentioned above but in terms of overall football player qualities he is way off the mark. Hard to find this sort of player in the Prem who is hungry and passionate for the game and not just picking up a pay cheque in the worlds wealthiest league. Just look at the likes of Ki and Montero!! Case closed lol |
| Forum Reply | Gunter at 09:35 30 May 2017
Is this a serious post? Gunter has improved and looks a steady player for Wales but he is in a 5 man defence with holding midfielders so a lot of mistakes can be covered up. We need to be signing quality players now if we are going to compete and not squad players. We have too many of the in players like Dyer, Routledge, Ki and could go on and on!!! |
| Forum Reply | Spurs rumoured to be interested in Mawson at 09:32 30 May 2017
Dwight you are absolutely spot on!! Mawson did improve second half of the season and good to see a defender chip in with some goals which Williams didn't really have in his locker, especially towards the latter years. I agree though its potential, we conceded a ridiculous amount of goals this season and Mawson did make a lot of mistakes which was a main factor of us having a very poor defensive record. His concentration and positioning is something he needs to work on and I believe if we keep hold of him he could be a fantastic player but don't hype him up and say about him being captain next season and all the other crap. Comparing him to Stones is a bit daft too, Stones is far from the finished product and was not worth the price tag but he is a better player than Mawson by quite some distance. |
