It’s the announcement of the poster of the year 2024
at 21:29 27 Jan 2025

That is right up there as a warm and engaging post. I am so glad you have something to place on the mantle piece up there in the Wirral in recognition of you contributions. Everyone deserve 15-20 mins in the limelight.

I do look back with some fondness on my sensational POTY 2023 win which even shocked me. I was hoping for 5-6 votes not the whopping 43.

It just shows in both our cases that sticking to our principles always is a sound policy.

Gibbs White played 4 games for Swansea and played well for Sheffield utd after Christmas after Swansea got him fit. He was English so was not a " English crock". That is valid.

Arriola and Morris were fit and raring to go but were American and therefore " American crocks" once they got injuries. I do not think EU players qualify as "Euro crocks" especially from respected teams like Ajax.

I think he was the semi house trained poodle / dogsbody for Trust apologists used to create a toxic narrative against those that had done a hard 14 years of service. That just my recollection. No offence intended if I have got the wrong fellow.

It is too early to panic. Getting players out of the door early is a sound practice. The club can concentrate on incomings this week with some financial leverage.

Galbraith in, Darling given extra cash a creative midfielder in on loan and things will be fine. Parker Ginnelly and Govea are back in the mix. The issue is Williams.

The old boys club getting together to carve up a deal on behalf of the forum readership. That's the way it works in south Wales.

Could selling Grimes and losing his wages allow a deal for Darling?
at 15:25 27 Jan 2025

Selling Grimes for £2-3m and losing his £22k a week wages frees up a lot of funds. Upto £4.5m in the budget.

Most fans would if they had a choice nominate Harry Darling as the ideal new Captain. He he as presumably is outlined his requirements. Wycombe will want £1m for Low but he is free a in July. Can the club now give Darling wa he sf ge wants with Grimes' s wages off the books?

What do you mean by " fire sale"?

It related originally to huge discounts for relatively sound products that were involved in a fire. Damaged stock sold at 5p in the pound.

It has taken on a new meaning of a panic sale to generate cash and avoid bankruptcy.

There was no fire sale in 2017.Swansea got decent fees and generally broke even. That was about getting high wage earners off the books.

Coleman knows how to make a deal presumably. He can sign the documents an make a gentlemen's agreement that Grimes does not feature on the weekend as he beds in.

I notified that changes HAD to made and they have. The existing on the field management has to be changed. I believe Williams has been forced to act to save his own neck. He is responsible and that is the way it should be

In the event of this inconclusive result I am prepared to carry on as the defacto sitting soley elected POTY candidate from 2023. I know this would be the most practical and popular decision.

The people wanted me on the hustings I suspect and possibly the voters gave shown their discontent in a inconclusive poll.

Matt Grimes rumours 😲

Clearly all is not well in the camp. I suggested two days ago something drastic HAD to happen and it has.

Perhaps Grimes was asked to stand down they had a bust up Grimes handed in a transfer request and Coventry came calling

Marc Robins took a punt on a raw Centre forward Steve Cooper never played. They took over the "loan to buy" deal Swansea rejected for Viktor Gyorkeres.

Bad teams continuosly make bad decisions and bad players at Swansea become great everywhere else.

The Vik deal put £20m into their coffee for a £1.5m buy. They are using it to take Swansea s captain. I very much doubt Vik would have got a kick for Williams either.

I believe Williams is not managing these players properly. Swansea is not Chelsea and if it signs a player t he must be used. I am a big fan of Abdullai and releasing him was the final straw for me.

Colemans business acumen
at 11:05 27 Jan 2025

Along with £30-40m. The club is in a reasonable place with a decent manager.

If Coleman is micromanaging it means he does not trust his staff. If Gude is about business culture they may be looking to make a step change.

I have never heard a manage admit he "lost motivation for a while" (Martin) or a manager admit HIS team "lost the will to compete". (Williams). An extraordinary admission. So why no change in the on field manager. (Grimes)

If motivation is a problem then drastic action is required and selling Abdullai is not it.

I doubted the Welsh cup scheme would get permission off EUFA where I saw the main obstacle. I saw no reason for the English FA to block it as they do not block anything else like financial doping and deals with the Saudis who gave been implicated in the murder of a journalist.

In the recent Cooper Martin Williams era the manager have consistently sent away and not player a string of good players worth millions but not good enough for Swansea

Gyorkeres ( loan to buy)
Al Hamadi
Whittaker
Joseph
Yates
Kuharevych
Ogbeta
Abdullai
