The availability of Cook and Morrison is welcome and timely. Wednesday aren't an outstanding team but they are physically imposing. I don't expect either to start, but they may be required during the course of the game. Same will apply against Millwall, I suspect. Good news to have them back. |

If he does sign for Boro, it goes nowhere near to fiiling the huge void that will be left when Latte Lath leaves this month. Here's hoping a premier league side offers Liverpool enough money to sign Doakes and that's a potential rival considerably weakened. |

Evan Ferguson is a premier league standard player who strangely, in my opinion, has been treated awfully by Brighton. There will be many premier league suitors looking to either take him on loan or sign him permanently. I take it Kevin Gallen hasn't actually put forward any suggestions, because that's the hard bit. In the absence of this nigh-on mythical, good to go, prolific out-and-out striker who is within ours and many other sides in this league's budget, I'd say that we are progressing nicely: the goals to games ratios of Frey and Kolli are virtually in line with the majority of strikers in this league. Please continue to rack and stack players like Shelvey & Barnes. Neither is going to improve their inability to score goals: they've only scored a goal more than us and that's after our chronic start. That's why I don't see them finishing in the top two. I fancy us to end up scoring more goals than Burnley, even after Parker's customary January rack and stack, which will continue for the remaining weeks of the window. |

Totally. Before the game, I was concerned but they were good. Plymouth were poor though. Excellent headed clearances by Dunne towards the end, which I suspect your typical right-back may not have had the wherewithal to take up such positions. Rayan Kolli, what a finish, class personified, you don't teach that. Well done, young man. [Post edited 18 Jan 14:40]

No chance. Nowhere near Eze's ability and nowhere near ready for the Premier League. He (Esse) has hardly stood out in the championship this season. In fact, Kolli's goals and goal assists are better this season whilst having played far fewer minutes. Very odd signing by Palace |

Well done for highlighting those incredibly impressive numbers of Kolli's. We have a serious talent at our club, just hope that it's nurtured correctly so that it is maximised in the years to come. Merde day at work, but this news has pleased me no end. You R's. |

Wow. That's excellent news. I was fearful that it wasn't going to happen. The two most talented young players at the club: Kolli and Morgan, have now signed new agreements. This bodes well for the future and the team's progression. These two players are special talents who, in time and with the continued rate of their development which is way beyond their young years, have the potential to go far in the game. Now let's play him behind Frey, with Chair & Smyth either side of him. You R's [Post edited 17 Jan 12:27]

Long may that perfect equilibrium between the two continue. The upper end of the table is a pipe dream so steady state for the remainder of the season will do for me. |

Agree with you completely on Edwards. On that showing, he's behind all of our own centre-halves (x5: Fox included). I saw no stomach for the fight from him. Yes, he may not have played many games, but you can still show more commitment, aggression and desire. First goal, as you referenced, being a case in point where none of those basic traits were in evidence. I don't see him starting in that position against Plymouth on Saturday after such an indifferent showing after being bigged-up by some, as being a great loan signing. Dunne will play there instead, I believe. Hope we haven't got another Sanderson on our hands. |

Cheers for that informative summary, Nico, of some of the possible legal machinations that may have gone on behind the scenes in this case and in other similar instances. [Post edited 10 Jan 8:42]

Sometimes you can do too much/over-achieve at a club, which gives rise to supporters deluding themselves into believing that their club, little Luton Town, is bigger than what it actually is. Reading the Luton pre-match review - Clive's oppo profile, it appears that they have lost some real quality players from last season: Barkley and Lakongo, in particular, as well as Ogbene and Osho amongst others. They haven't been adequately replaced to at least championship equivalents, yet they spent £10 million on McGuinnes and are reportedly going to initially pay £3 million for Isaiah Jones!! We were better than them on Monday, but they aren't going down and I believe that he should have been kept on until the season's end at least. Due to what he achieved with unfancied Luton Town, they have virtually paid for their new ground as a result of the premier league £150 million windfall. They could have taken a leaf out of our book re: the MC and kept their nerve by keeping him in post. It will turn around for them like it has for us. Is it back to Jones again. | Forum Reply | Madsen Mins at 11:44 9 Jan 2025
I have my reservations about Madsen, but we persevered with Lyndon Dykes for over 4 years, so let's see. However, he must be willing to want to improve in the areas where he currently falls short in order to become a credible championship player. I suspect that we will make a number of changes for Saturday's FA Cup game, which I agree with, and he will in all likelihood start. It's then down to him to try and leave a better impression by figuring more prominently in the game. [Post edited 9 Jan 15:39]

Great analysis, Westway. His anticipatory instincts, which I believe is an innate quality and can't really be taught, are clearly in evidence and it bodes well for the rest of the season. I can see the Chair to Frey source of supply getting us a decent number of goals during the remainder of this season. That's why Chair is playing the balls in earlier, as he knows that Frey will be in the vicinity and challenging in most instances, which is a far cry from the statuesque and non-anticipatory Dykes. I like. [Post edited 9 Jan 10:55]

He also beat Dunne for pace very comfortably on a few occasions when he moved to their left for the latter stages of the game. Just for balance. [Post edited 9 Jan 10:33]
