over 2,000 tickets sold.
at 17:37 4 Oct 2024

Your travel plans remind me of a trip to the old Baseball ground back in the Trevor Francis era. My mate was late getting to St Pancras and we missed the train to Derby so ended up getting a train to Nottingham and getting a cab to Derby.

As we got to the ground we were jumped by a few Derby looking for stragglers and after a bit of non-Queensbury rules street fighting managed to get to the turnstiles after kick off and as we got through Clever Trevor stuck the ball in the net. Heard the roar but did not see the goal. The rest of the game was pony. 1 - nil away win, but still a good day out.

Agree. Build the fanbase, regularly sell out the ground, improve the match day catering and drinks offering , boost income and all that combined then pushes the argument for a move to a bigger and better equipped stadium - as long as the location and design of the stadium were very well considered with the fans input

Add rail seating to the lower School End might be an idea if we stick with giving that section to home fans. Might generate a good atmosphere from both ends of the ground and support the noise from SAR & Stanley Bowles stand

Paris 2024 Olympics Frederique
at 08:23 26 Jul 2024

One of my daughter's is travelling out today for the weekend and the opening of the games. Already she has experienced delays due to vandalism to the rail lines outside Paris.

I do worry that there is going to be lots of protests and disruption due to the political turmoil in France at present during the Olympics.

I liked the CJ Sansom - Shardlake series. If you like those then you might like to try a series of books by Rory Clements which are of similar style but based in the reign of Elizabeth 1

Next England Manager
at 14:12 16 Jul 2024

I think Southgate has put great foundations in place and brought us some of the best moments with the England team in my lifetime (54 years).

Spain promoted their manager through the ranks and I think that is the way we should go. So go with Carsley, get a great tactician in to support him.

I do not want to see Lumpard, Gerrard or Racist John anywhere near the England managers job

England v Switzerland Quarter Final match thread

I would Like us start with a team that are all playing in positions they are used to

-------------------- Kane----------

------Gordan -- Bellingham ----Palmer

----------------Rice ------Mainoo--------

Gomez ---- Konsa ---Stones ----Walker

If this ain't working then go 442 with Toney or Watkins to give Kane some support with either Rice / Mainoo making way. Replace Gordan and Palmer with Eze and Saka when they tire

Nearest pub to where you live

Think I clicked the wrong button - doh!

My nearest two pubs are 'The George Staples' & ' Jolly Fenman' in Blackfen which both used to be ok when I was younger, but now in my mid- fifties I cant stand them.

However, there are at least 6 good micro-pubs open locally, so plenty to keep me happy.

My old local was ' The Iron Horse' in Sidcup and it was rough as fcuk and the local newspaper was not too kind in its reviews: https://theironhorseuk.com/ and yes it had a flat roof!

Car advice - 7 seater
at 19:37 29 May 2024

I can highly recommend a Ford S-Max 2.0TDI. Had to sell mine last year due to Mr Khan's ULEZ, but it gave me great service for 17 years, getting my triplet girls around in comfort - 3 proper seats in the back , with a further two behind that . Huge boot size with the seats down - managed to get a 3 -piece suite in the back!

Folding the seats down was easy as really clever mechanism. Engine had plenty of poke and good standard interior

They have been using that style of badge on their away kit this season. I am disgusted with myself for even knowing that about Manure

Saw tickets on a few sites going for up to £150 to £170. Lot of money for a Lids fan to pay to get a smack in the mush when they make themselves known

Yep, left it late due to work commitments. Logged on 5 mins ago and as only on database now days, only tickets showing / available are those in Loft Upper and members only. Lower School End not showing, so guess it is going to be a sell out. Will have to make do with Sky.

New England Kit
at 11:49 18 Mar 2024

Nike managed to make an excellent away kit for Inter Milan back in 2007 as it incorporated the St George's flag design on the shirt. Would be ideal for England and I am sure it would be a huge seller if the FA went down that route, but I am also equally sure it would be deemed to patriotic / offensive to some.

Unfortunately, despite a number of attempts my IT skills have failed me and I have been unable to post a picture of it here, but go search for yourself, I really like it.
