Agree with you PP on the defence. I would've liked us to have kept Kingsley (but a move was right for the player) or at least replaced him. A couple of injuries and we could be in trouble... maybe we'll sign another CB as a free agent if injuries strike? On the CB situation - van der Hoorn did his chances no harm with a great performance against Palace. On that showing, he's up to it. Key question now is, can he keep it up? Whether we stick with 3 or 4 at the back will be interesting to see as well. I trust in PC though. He is one hell of a manager |

I'm thrilled to see Bony and Sanches come in but Arias would have topped it off. Big upgrade on Naughton and would've completed a very solid starting XI. Especially after selling Kingsley, which I don't get why we needed to do that without a replacement coming in. Hope injuries don't strike. |

Consistent first team Championship football did wonders for Bartley last season. He came back a transformed player, shame about his injury |

Nah mun, why get one of the world's hottest young talents when we have Fulton, Ki and a 34 year old Britton in our midfield... So he's good enough to play at Bayern but not good enough for us? Seriously amazes me how dumb some of our fans are. This would be an immense signing and would also allow Fulton to go on loan. Did you not see him dominate the 2016 Euros? |

Going off Clement's recent comments it looks as if we are sticking with what we've got and promoting Joe Rodon to 4th choice. God help us if FF or Mawson get injured... I'm still adamant a loan signing or free agent would be beneficial to the squad in case of an emergency. But the brains trust and our holy DOF will once again be too slow to make any moves here |

Hopefully we can cash in on the confidence boost from the MK Dons game A win here and all of a sudden well have 4 points from 3 games and everything will be looking a lot rosier all of a sudden Hopefully Clucas gets a run, would like to see how him and Mesa link up. Would also love it if we had another signing to unveil (Bony, Arias) either pre-game or at half time. |

You are right mate, but Sakho I was only suggesting as a loan, like how he went to Palace last season. He is probably the best quality available for the lowest price |

so is the Chadli deal dead in the water? I cannot fathom how/why we did not have an attacking midfielder signing ready to go as soon as the Siggy deal was sanctioned. |

Assuming Bartley is out for months rather than weeks (and lets hope he isn't)... but if he is, we're gonna need another centre back in the squad. We cannot rely purely on VDH, Fernandez and Mawson. Loan signing would be the "highest quality for lowest outlay" option... Mamadou Sakho would fit the bill perfectly IMO. I'm sure there'd be other CB's we could loan from other big clubs as well - is Neven Subotic still available? Kurt Zouma would've been great if he hadn't already gone to Stoke. I'd love to see us grab Ben Gibson on a permanent deal but he won't come cheap and we have other issues requiring our money being spent elsewhere Alternatively, we could recall Amat out of sheer desperation and being tight on the purse strings again. I'm not a fan of this but it is an option. What do you guys think we should do? |
| Forum Reply | Kyle Bartley at 01:31 23 Aug 2017
Could be a very good short term fix Either him or a loan signing from one of the bigger clubs. Zouma would have been perfect if he was still available. Ben Gibson from Middlesbrough would be a brilliant signing but wouldn't be cheap. Sakho anyone? |
| Forum Thread | Chadli at 00:19 23 Aug 2017
Everything gone very quiet on this front... is the deal off? Wasn't he the man to come in as soon as Siggy was sold? I heard he started the cup game for WBA as well... Seems unusual in a time where clubs more often keep transfer-linked players in the stands rather than playing Have we missed the boat again? (that'd be the 3rd time we've tried and failed to sign him, if we can't get him in) |
| Forum Reply | Fer in pivotal defensive role? at 00:07 23 Aug 2017
Yes it was only MK Dons but Mesa and Fulton played in the deeper roles, Fer started in an attacking role As a result Fer was able to play his more natural game and scored twice as well... my point still stands. Good option to have in the squad - much better in attack too |

I haven't heard any mention Kenji Gorre in this transfer |

This quote is quite damning. Huw is clearly on a pedestal amongst the Yanks, and going nowhere any time soon. He's still very much "the man". We just continually shoot ourselves in the foot. “It’s more that Huw and the scouting team find targets and if there is somebody they think I may know or may have played with or may know something about then they’ll ask me for my advice,” he said. “Huw brought this team from virtually nothing to this, so I don’t need to give him advice. But if there are ways I can help then I will try to do so.” |
