I agree, fancy materials that don't protect the foot, blades that wont turn in he ground as they are not round! Give the whole squad BLACK Puma kings or BLACK Adidas world cups and see how we go for a season!

True that, I ripped my minuscus when my blades slipped (couldn't find size 12 screw stud boots) on hardish ground. I was lucky, usually the ligament goes too according to what I read after. Did the BUPA 10km two weeks later for Pancreatic Cancer, that was an experience with only half a knee anchored.

INJURY WOE FOR SUTHERLAND on 17:12 - Nov 11 with 3113 views | collegeranger | I wondered why he was substituted on 38 minutes for Orient on Saturday. I thought that a nice run in a very successful League 1 side would blood him nicely for us moving forward into next year/season. This could kill his career!

When I was at school originally played in Woolworth's Panthers though had to beg my mum for some Patrick boots. Wonder if anyone will research footwear and not Nike to try and sell more boots. I am into running and there was research done into barefoot running and the con of expensive trainers. Nike then launched a $100 free running shoe which they claimed was the best trainer for this style.

For all the protection they provide they may as well just wear these As pointed out above it does seem to be since the advent of these blades replacing proper round studs that the frequency of this type of injury seems to have increased. Got to be more than coincidence.

INJURY WOE FOR SUTHERLAND on 18:45 - Nov 11 with 2936 views | TheBlob | "There are many ways the ACL can be torn; the ligament tears because it is overstretched. The movements of the knee that can result in a tear is when the knee is straightened more than 10 degrees beyond its normal maximal position (hyperextension) - the lower leg is forced forward in relation to the upper leg. Tears in the anterior cruciate ligament often take place when the knee receives a direct impact from the front of the thigh while the leg is in a stable position, for example a standing football player is tackled sideways when his feet are firmly planted."

I ruptured my ACL and my medial, and tore the meniscus whilst wearing black puma kings. Just saying! I actually think the injury is more common now than 20-30 years ago due to the increased amount of grass on pitches for more of the season and possibly it's length. A lot of pitches are also not entirely grass but woven in with plastic fibres. More grass and thicker grass is likely to increase the amount of times your studs/foot gets stuck in the pitch when turning or receiving impact. That's most likely to cause a rupture. Pitches 20-30 years ago had less grass and more compacted mud, which IMO woulda an less players getting their studs or blades caught in the ground. Pure speculation on my part, mind.
