Australia all-rounder Shane Watson faces a battle to be fit for the first Ashes Test in Brisbane on 21 November.

The 32-year-old sustained a hamstring injury while bowling in Australia's final one-day international against India last Saturday.

We were'nt great against them over here and could quite easily have lost but for Bell.
The problem for us is the clear lack of fighting spirit from our upper/middle order batsmen who used to be relied on to have at least a couple of big partnerships when the going got tough.
Now they just collapse like a pack of cards as soon as Johnson goes for the throat.
I just can't see us turning this around but you never know if we could somehow salvage some pride from the remaining couple of days it could give us the confidence for the Perth game.
Don't hold your breath though!

This is like some horrible time-warp! Aussie white-wash on the cards at this rate.

I can tell you that the public down here are really baying for blood after our previous humiliation.
We are good front runners at home so 5-0 may not be out of the question.

Thrown the ashes away like a crack head flogging the cherished and loved family silver, been a middlesex fan since 1980, the days of Edmonds,Cowans,Daniel,Brearley and Emburey.Every day filled with foreboding coming down the stairs to see England lifting up their hindquarters aka 'the potting shed@scum' in supplication to porn star Johnson, whilst he whispers sweet nothings in our ear.How Prior can keep his place is beyond me.didnt understand the dropping of Tremlett.Stokes will never be a test no 6 as long as ive got an arseh0le.montys recall was equally baffling (terrible season personally and looking for a club ,essex only takers!).finn has had the speed coached out of him with concerns over his action.just tell him to bowl fast and straight ffs. fck worrying about where his fuking trailing leg falls.Anderson hasnt bowled well since the first test in the summer(would love to know his avg since then).i admit rankin hasnt bowled well on this tour but hes the nearest thing to the amourey that the aussies have.attack of tremlett, reankin, broad and anderson for next test.call up bopari at no#6 bring bairstow in for prior.that is the only chance of drawing the series.we were lucky in the summer,2-1 would have been a fair reflection, the attitude in the last test with kerrigan thrown in smacked of arrogance and the aussies are revelling in our pain.No shame in losing but giving up the the ashes without a fight .......

cook got away with it in the summer by the batting form of Bell IMHO
these 2 tests hammerings have been on the cards for a while and I predicted to a mate we would lose 3-1
if the inevitable happens and we lose the ashes we need to look to replace the likes of Prior,Trott,Swan and someone needs to get in KP's ear cos his dismissal in the 1st innings was stupid as hell oh and Carberry is never a test cricketer

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott believes Alastair Cook's side have already lost the series and called for changes before the third Test in Perth, starting on Friday, 13 December.

Cook gone already....hooking Johnson...

Ashes Winter thread on 00:18 - Dec 8 with 2172 viewsHollowayRanger

It really is hard to express the stupidity of this. England are batting to save the game and their captain has fallen on his sword in the second over. It's that man Mitchell Johnson again, but the scorecard might as well say Cook c Cook b Cook. It's dug in, Cook hooks in the air to long leg, where Ryan Harris takes an excellent tumbling catch. It beggars belief.

Listen to the band play!

Aside from being the shot of a club third team player, rather than the captain of England, the other problem with Cook's dismissal is that it takes a huge dent out of his side's very fragile batting. You can make a decent argument for the tail starting at number six. Harris stays around the wicket to Carberry, looking to go as full as possible. Thundering into the pads, but the leftie has got an edge on that. Neither man off the mark yet.

This really is a joke now. They should give up the series 5 nil and come home without being paid for the rest of their holiday!!!

I've got tickets for Old Trafford and the Oval next year and really not sure I want them anymore. This is a team of world class cricketers that have let themselves turn up half cooked and over confident.

Johnson doesn't move the ball that much, get them in the nets on a f*****g bowling machine at 95 miles an hour for god sake.

They look utterly shell shocked and feels like the series is a century late, whereby they'd get a boat over there and have no idea what sort of team they would face. They should have known exactly what they'd be up against this time!!
