The Stones 23:15 - Jun 29 with 7514 views | Lblock | Just got in and put the Glastonbury coverage on I'm not a fan of theirs and it looks pretty sad stuff to me, all twenty years too late at least Sure it floats Jagger fans boats but not for me

I'm no fan. Don't have one album but they are taking the pension. How active do you expect them to be. After all they are old men at the end of the day

The Stones on 02:25 - Jun 30 with 3756 views | queensparker | Come on, cheer up. It's a chance for a new generation of kids to see one of the greatest bands ever playing live and enjoy it. Of course they look old, they're all approaching 70. They were playing their first gigs in Ealing / Richmond etc 50 years ago. Wish I'd been around then. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

The Stones on 04:43 - Jun 30 with 3729 views | timcocking | Withut any doubt one of the world's greatest ever bands. Personally, i don't like a lot of their stuff, but they've done some amazing tracks. Paint it black, sympathy for the devil, wild horses, angie, play with fire, as tears go by, gimme shelter etc. Faintly embarrassing seeing them trying to continue "rocking" into their 70s though. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

The Stones on 06:56 - Jun 30 with 3694 views | BlackCrowe | I tuned expecting to be very underwhelmed and thought they were excellent. Keef is the only that looks like it's a bit too much for him - Jagger for all his faults knows how to work a set and crowd and Watts, Wood and Taylor are still top musicians. It looked like properly good fun being in that crowd.

The Stones on 07:19 - Jun 30 with 3675 views | Kiwi76 | Not old enough to remember their heyday and old enough for some of their lesser efforts. Festivals & Hyde Park well deserved though and think we'd all like to have Jagger's energy at bloody 70! Having seen New Order & Stone Roses in past 12mths can be accused of being sucker for the past & plenty of crowd not born when they were at their peak...

What's with the ageism crap?Rock and Roll was invented largely by artists in their latter years.I went to see "young" acts like the Stones and they were blown away by old black geezers who came over here to play the blues. If you're good enough you're young enough, but Stones were always crap.Faux southern drawl vocals, some good guitar riffs though, they employed the outstanding Mick Taylor to replace Brian Jones and then used him as a rhythm guitarist. The oldies can do it,but Glasto is still wall to wall unmitigated filth, you're welcome to it. Me neither. I've never understood the attraction, have never bought any of their music. Just a bit "meh" for me, really. I saw a bit of last night's coverage and seemed a it dull and derivative. My mates thought I was being harsh, glad to see I'm not the only one.

The Stones on 09:31 - Jun 30 with 3510 views | Metallica_Hoop | I missed it, I have to say and I'm not a huge fan but they were superb at Twickenham a few years ago and I was sober! I watched (well listened lost the picture as TV was playing up) Public Enemy they were great, even threw in some metal, guitar shredding and a Nirvana "remix". The Stones on 09:47 - Jun 30 with 3491 views | derbyhoop | Greatest hits show that doesn't require much effort. Still after 50 years they're entitled to phone it in. Jagger, approaching 70, is still a good deal fitter than most of us. And I include myself in that. It wasn't so much the band as the occasion.

The Stones on 10:09 - Jun 30 with 3465 views | Monahoop | I've always loved the Stones, though they have not put out a decent album since Some Girls in 1978, relying heavily on live performances to keep their popularity going. Yes they are old, but they can still perform albeit pacing themselves a bit more now. I thought their performance was good last night, not outstanding, but no more than I expected of them and they played the right mix of classics to keep the crowd happy. It was nice to see Mick Taylor joining in, easily the most polished guitarist they have had, though his style of playing and his personality has always it appears to be at odds with the more rugged, earthy sound of Richards. A pity old Bill Wyman wasn't there as I feel the band is not the same without a regular bassist. Fair play to them I say and it's good to know they are still appreciated by both young and old music fans. Here's to another 50 years!

The Stones on 11:02 - Jun 30 with 3383 views | TacticalR | I am with Blob on this one, but I will add one thing... The thing I always found hard to swallow with the Stones was the way they seemed to offer rebellion as a commodity. Whether that was by design, or whether there was simply a niche for such things in our society I don't know. Of course these days they are the part of the stately rock aristocracy.

I remember a boys weekend in the early nineties going to watch them in Amsterdam All long hair and ponytails - Great memories. I thought they were good last night - O to be young again!!!
The Stones on 12:02 - Jun 30 with 3307 views | ted_hendrix | The music scene needed them when they turned up, Brian Jones was treated like dirt by Mick and Keith and Brian Jones was way in advance of them both musically speaking. Still I guess you can't always get what you want. Met, was the gig at Twickenham the one with Angus Young? I was at that one, seen the Stones twice at Twickenham.

Watched it on the Telly. I thought they got the running order and choice of songs a bit wrong and was a bit surprised by some of the choices, I would have started with some more vigerous numbers and dropped audience participation breathers like "miss You" into the middle of the order. as it was I thought they struggled to get going although it did eventually pick up, Delighted to see Taylor there, Richards hasnt really got it in him anymore but lets face it, its something of a miracle they guy can stand up unassisted never mind play a gig. I did see a post on facebook where someone said he was reminded of the "wonga" advert, which made me laugh. Audience seemed to enjoy it very much and their the ones who paid so job done i guess

As Keef himself has said, If we were a bunch of old black guys playing the blues, nobody would say we should pack it in. I suspect the live sound would have been great, as Stones gigs always are. Probably lost a lot by being piped down through the telly.

As Metallica said Public enemy were so good even without half their band. They are an ageing band but always seem to perform and now they've added the live band to their set they can slow things down effortlessly yet still rock the f.ck out of the crowd. A lesson to anyone how to perform live
