For someone that doesn't particularly like scary films, I've seen and really loved quite a lot that would be considered horror (or / horror)...
- Scream - Aliens - Silence of the Lambs - 28 Days Later (pretty much any zombie or vampire film tbf) - The Thing - Event Horizon - Terminator - Jaws - The Ring - A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night - Pans Labyrinth - Cabin in the Woods - Attack the Block - Green Room
More recently It Follows, Upgrade and Train to Busan make my list, Train to Busan is probably my all time (actual) zombie film - strong strong recommend

1, 2 and 5 are GREAT.
I'm a huge horror fan. My faves are The Thing and Terminator (fk you, it's every bit a horror film).
More recently I really liked Devil, It Follows and VHS Beyond (which is an anthology, I LOVE those).
Looking forward to seeing Smile 2. Smile shat me up.
I started watching Smile last night. It genuinely creeped me out. Turned it off in the end. I was already getting Sunday night panic attacks anyway, so just for health reasons I switched to random youtube vids.
Occasional providers of half decent House music.

Yes, the head in the boat hole and even the float bobbing up on the sea surface were genuinely scary. But I think that all comes from the general terror created in Jaws. Great film.

Watched Longlegs the other night. Was worried the hype would kill it, but have to say it's one creepy ass film. Nick Cage absolutely chewing the scenery but it works.
Kill List, most oppressive atmosphere i can remember. Watched everything Ben Wheatley has done after watching this.
Hereditary was good.
Babadook, nice twist on the depression/ grief horror theme.
I find Ben Wheatley stuff a coin toss, but when he hits, it's incredible.
However I watched his new zombie show on C4 last night and it was absolute garbage.

Agreed. Kill List is a great film but Generation Z was a complete mess.
A lot of my favourite films have been listed, including Alien, Halloween, The Shining, American Werewolf, The Thing, Hellraiser, Event Horizon, Saw, The Descent and Get Out. Others good ones are:

another film i love, not sure if its thriller or horror is...... Assault on precinct 13, like halloween its got that earie and catchy tune.
The first āhorror filmā that really got me was The Night Walker. My mum and dad had an impromptu small gathering in our front garden for some reason leaving me and my young brother to watch it alone. I shat myself for a long time about this film, but it gave me love for Hammer Horror productions that I still have today, although much as Iāve tried, I can never find any Dracula etc films on the box. Still got quite a few books from the 70ās about this genre, including a still by still photograph book on the first Frankenstein movie.
The Exorcist got me badly first time around. Enjoyed The Omen so much I named my first son Damien.
One of the above is not true.

Yeah I know what you mean, but I'll always check Wheatley's stuff out, and the same with Mike Flanagan, it's not *always* amazing but usually interesting at least.

Good shout on Train to Busan, excellent film. The Korean film industry is really strong. On the horror side of things , Tale Of Two Sisters is pretty harrowing, and The Wailing is good.

I love Korean and Japanese horror/sci-fi and the acting is generally excellent. Think the over-emoting may be lost in translation, especially if itās English dubbed. Train to Busan is an excellent movie with great zombies and action sequences: the little girl does cry a lot though!
