Chris Ramsey gone on 15:43 - Jan 8 with 4156 views | Antti_Heinola | To me, this felt inevitable once Les left, I'm only surprised it's taken this long. Ramsey also said in the past he'd like another crack at managing, at a lower level, obviously. I mean, God knows how the Academy actually works. He seemed to find and polish some gems early on, but not so much lately. I also think it probably doesn't matter who the Tech Director is if the coaches at young age groups aren't much cop. Suspect this might be the first of a few. A few people said 'do we need a DoF and a Tech Director' - I wonder if this is the pre-cursor to the new DoF?

"God knows how the Academy actually works" It doesn't, really.
Chris Ramsey gone on 15:49 - Jan 8 with 4062 views | BostonR | Only in the football world can you fail to meet your G&O's on an annual basis and be retained in the same position for nine years. Who was responsible for the governance and development in the academy? Fecking reckless management and oversight at all levels.

If I was funding this club Monthly to keep It afloat I'd be at LR everyday kicking peoples arses and asking them WTF are you doing?? We're stagnant/stale and stuck in feeling sorry for ourselves mood and doing nothing about It.

Chris Ramsey gone on 15:09 - Jan 8 by Northernr | Is somebody finally running a finger down the payroll and asking some questions? |
If they are then it's about time, hopefully a flurry of other 'Coaches' they don't do much and 'Specialist's' are on their way out too. I'm pretty sure Hoo's can run the academy too...... [Post edited 8 Jan 15:57]

Chris Ramsey gone on 15:41 - Jan 8 by Philothesuperhoop | Reading the release he was nicely pushed. Surely this has to give some hope that they are trying to free up some budget for new bodies in Jan? |
Need to start finding bigger stronger youngsters for a start, the youngsters breaking through let's just say they are on the short side. We are soft small looking team and it is no coincidence that we get done over, just look at players like Drewe and Pedder vertically challenged in a league populated by 6 foot plus athletes. Look at the Bellingham brothers perfect examples of the stature of a modern top level footballer. Start giving them all 3 shredded wheat.

I think some clubs just make do with a Sporting Director so perhaps they’ll do that.
Chris Ramsey gone on 16:00 - Jan 8 with 3848 views | Lblock | So long Benny His biggest achievement was to inflate his bank balance Our strap line really does need to be “QPR - we reward failure” Heard some absolutely shocking things about his approach which really surprised me as he had a fantastic rep as a youth coach years ago

Chris Ramsey gone on 16:00 - Jan 8 with 3839 views | dmm | I feel like I'm Mr Jones in Dylan's song 'Ballad of Thin Man' because something's going on but I don't know what it is. People at the top end are leaving and not being replaced and the wheels are coming off our season. Hoos' "...as we thoroughly rationalise everything we do..." explanation in the article tells us very little apart from he's trying to save money. A club statement to the fans explaining where we're going is long overdue.
Chris Ramsey gone on 16:01 - Jan 8 with 3824 views | paulhoop2 | Great call by the club Ramsey escaped criticism for a long time and arguably should have gone way before Les. Academy is not fit for purpose and warbs was correct in his assessment of it. There is an argument that he is a respected and liked coach / youth development officer but things have not worked out

Chris Ramsey gone on 16:06 - Jan 8 with 3751 views | kingsburyR | Shouldn't a barrel load of staff change when a new manager comes in.....change of coaching methods etc. I can't see how a new manager may come on and possible a new no.2 but all the dead wood stays as is. A new broom and all that!

Chris Ramsey gone on 16:11 - Jan 8 with 3670 views | Gloucs_R | Looking more and more like streamlining the budgets in order to make the club more attractive to sell. The first place you always start is with the middle management layer.

I mean, even given our capacity for financial mismanagement, that would be a step too far. The way clubs change managers these days it would be financially crippling, time consuming and pointless to sack all the coaching staff every time? Are you talking about right through the club? Or just first team level?

Chris Ramsey gone on 16:33 - Jan 8 with 3379 views | WadR | Chair's the top response under QPR's tweet saying 'the best' in relation to Ramsey. It's interesting, as alluded to by a few other posters, he's had a good rep as a coach within football. And Chair, Eze, Bright all credit him with improving their games. But has there been a development team signing or young player whose development has really been shaped positively by Ramsey in the last 4 years?

I think Ramsey was very instrumental in Chair coming over for his trial in the first place, and then being kept on at the end of it, so I'm not surprised he's keen on him.
Chris Ramsey gone on 16:56 - Jan 8 with 3126 views | lassel | This has felt rather inevitable for quite a while tbh. I was gobsmacked when North met LF and Les told him when designing Heston he had advised the owners not to bother with going for Cat A facilities. I know people will say it makes sense as the best just get stolen, but that happens to us regardless. Anyone half decent gets nicked away from us - the lad Gilchrist at Chelsea was a QPR youngster - and so regardless of facilities you’ll always be relying on the ones who don’t get stolen away, the quality of which will inevitably be higher if you invest in Cat A. We also have had the farce of the ‘B Team’ which I’m sure I read used 40+ players last year and it’s been noticeable how the steady stream of kids released elsewhere and getting contracts here has dried up, I think the LB Shant is the only one we’ve actually given a deal to recently. We therefore had an academy director who is highly respected in the game, and I’m sure fairly compensated, who had essentially nothing to really oversee - not that he shouldn’t be fairly judged and if appropriate criticised for the output we have had. It’s just another area where QPR are at a huge crossroads and find themselves rudderless while trying to negotiate tricky waters. We actively decided not to integrate Cat A and wrote off the chance of producing our own players for a generation or more, we have seemingly given up on the needle in a haystack approach of finding a gem another club has let go and the Brentford model of signing up every half decent kid in Europe for pennies is no longer possible.
