Why all the focus on veganism, I follow a plant based diet because I want a sustainable future for my children and the future generations. We shouldn’t focus our opinions on big Russ as a manager because he also chooses to want a better future for our children. I agree that he has started slowly but I will stand by original feelings that we will finish top 2, I am a glass half full kind of guy.

Agree totally, I don’t fly, I won’t use one off plastic (like some of our fans) car share As often as possible. If I had more money I would invest in an electric car. I admire anybody that puts the future of the planet before luxury. Never thought I’d be happy not eating meat but that was 3 years ago and don’t miss it. Don’t want to sound preachy but very passionate

Not at all Builth, I am a scientist, got a PhD in chemistry and look at the data that is put in front of me. There are lots of fires etc burning as we speak and a lot of this is down to climate change, if we don’t act together, this will get worse. Did not mean to derail this thread

I missed this one as have a big meeting this morning. But from the texts I’ve woken up to, it was a much better attitude and approach which is encouraging.
But being the first win in 10 and RM’s propensity to revert to type I won’t get carried away. But he deserves credit for today as do the players from what I can see and what feedback I’ve had.
A quick statistical look makes much healthier reading, all key metrics are bang on what I was asking for last season.
- vs Blackpool. 64% possession. 528 passes with 84% accuracy. 9.1% long balls.
- vs Blackburn. 71% possession. 708 passes with 92% accuracy. 6.5% long balls. - vs Rotherham. 74% possession. 589 passes with 88% accuracy. 7.4% long balls.
Those stats are far more sensible. I don’t want to be seeing 700 passes and 73% possession and 90% pass accuracy. To me that’s a negative stat sheet, all safe short passes, trying to keep the ball away from the opposition.
Yet again we are at a stage where our first win of the season comes when we have our lowest possession, lowest pass count, lowest pass completion and highest long ball number. I’d like to see it go slightly further this way and cut out a lot of the defence passing stuff but that may be a compromise needed to be accepted.
Football is won and lost 50% in approach, that is where RM has been letting himself down. If this is a new dawn then that’s exciting a relief. But after 13 months of the opposite it will take some consistency to convince me.
But today, well done RM and the team. A win away and a clean sheet is never something to knock.

Yes, I said to OHL, no point in passing around your box if it’s just going to come to a stop in midfield. We’re getting there, we’re going to give a team a spanking this year if we can take our chances

Nice to read. Good post

Sometimes you got to win ugly. Hot 🤤 weather and the ref decides to play loads of injury time. Highlight was watching the planes in the air show flying especially late on in the second half. Booked Stoke away least we unbeaten on the road.

Pity you didn't catch it Doc. A game of two halves.
We looked good out of the blocks - Plan A was clearly ditched and a bucket full of Long balls from the off - the first was a Cabango 60-yard special which rocketed out for a goal kick, unfortunately. However much more positive intent with lots more running in behind for the long balls (which were often misplaced). Grimes pinged some beauts, and played far higher far more often, driving his team into the red zone.
2nd half, from the off they pounced on our usual vulnerabilities - our right side defence was targeted by their sub (an aggressive go-getter) and they piled in - it looked like we reverted to type under pressure and looked like sitting ducks, again. They missed the pen which threw us a life line. We looked devoid of ideas, intent, drive and energy - ironically Martin's words came back to haunt him: we were the ones out on our feet after lots of running in the 1st half, they were the ones taking advantage.
Nevertheless, good to get the 3 pts - it'll be interesting if he sticks or twists, again, like he did last year (tap-in there for OHL.....)

First half we looked pretty decent but won it in the 2nd half, superb breakaway goal. Looked like we tried to force a few things especially first half, we need to learn when to control things rather than give the ball away and sometimes very cheaply, a lot of this was done in the first half with some very aimless and hopeful balls.
I got to say that the ref in his position should be doing better with that penalty call........a ref has to be as certain as he can be to call it but how can he when there is no contact!? His position was superb to see it so he really needs to stand up there and apologise(hopefully he did).

Andy Woolmer the ref who Cooper reported for being biased
You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Just got back, absolutely loved it. One of the best atmospheres I seen in years, once again our incredible fans didn’t stop singing from start to finish. The nasty atmosphere from last year was no where to be seen, and the celebration after the penalty save was brilliant.
We could easily have been out of sight by half time, but they had at least one very clear chance, so could have gone tits up.
I’ve been to Rotherham and Blackpool now, should’ve won both, this was a big improvement, lot quicker, much more direct, but still occasionally fannnying around at the back, when it just needs a boot on it.
Also great to meet and watch the match with with OHL. He’s a man who deeply loves the swans and wants us to win. Always good to agreeably disagree.

Fair. Here s a trip from an advanced trained driver of 55 yrs experience. Don’t take a short cut to avoid a motorway roadworks system especially when there s abluddy airshop going on in the area and school holiday tIme. I almost missed lunch with Jon who didn’t really surprise me with his benign ,peaceful demeanour .

Well, you’ve already bought me lunch and we had a quick Hug after the goal. Looking forward to the next one.

You re quite a sweet light baritone too. Wonder what happened to that young lady in the peep hole ,tight fitting dress that obviously means to rub her chest on to me as she passed back and forth from the toilet.
I hope someone was looking after her. She deserved as much.

Lots of Jezebels around these days
She was clearly wanting to walk past the dashing young barrister
