It’s a terrible figure, all 4 parliaments have a part to play as do the people and organisations ignoring the legislation, but the Westminster Government and ultimately Boris are in charge. They control the finances, Border control etc etc. The current U.K. mortality rate is 152 per 100,000, the US is currently 130 per 100,000 and Trump has taken a hammering in the press over his response. If we had a population of 328,000,000 like the States with our current death rated we’d be just shy of 500,000 deaths, 75k more than our American cousins.
Gibraltar, San Marino, Belgium, Slovenia and the UK are the 5 worst countries in terms of deaths per capita.
A shocking state of affairs.
It is all about population controll anyway, PCR false positives Etc

So ....you dont think that all the Brexit related activities have caused a major distraction for a UK government that has failed to protect 100,000 of its most vulnerable citizens from covid. What planet are you on ? Google Kent and lorry park.
Why did Drakeford not protect the Welsh population with the highest death per 100,000 based on deaths certificate with coronavirus as a cause.

This is not a race. But little old Wales is now winning.
Looks like Wales can do stuff for itself after all. ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿â¤ï¸
God bless our Welsh NHS. Thank you.
Still behind the UK average but it fools to gullible if you save three weeks vaccines then administer them in week, while the leaders consistently deliver more vaccines of weeks.

Educate yourself.
Johnson has overseen 100,000 deaths, no ifs and no buts.
While Drakeford is responsible for 5,866.
Wales 5,886 death rate 186 per 100,000 England 88,846 death rate 156 per 100,000 Scotland 7,445 death rate 136 per 100,000 NI 2,128 death rate 112 per 100,000

Wales has had 4,610 not 5,886

Well done for praising Wales ðŸ‘😷
I will always praise countries when it is due, just as I held Drakeford to account two weeks ago when he said he was holding vaccines back. Thankfully the Welsh media and opposition parties in the Senedd pressured to do a very quick U turn.

Back to the rate is was after Drakeford's failed two week lockdown. If only Drakeford had kept the lockdown going for another couple of weeks instead of taking off all restrictions.
Vaccination rates England 12.89% UK average 12.34% Wales 12% Ni 10.8% Scotland 9.96%

The graph shows the 2 week fire break worked. Are you reading it the right way up ?

A brought the figures down but not to safe levels and once his mistake was lifting all restrictions in all areas of Wales. Another two weeks of lockdown might have brought infection rates of under 100 per 100,000 even then there should have still been tough restrictions in the parts of Wales that had very high infection rates. As your graph shows with two weeks of the end of the failed firebreak the infection rates well escalating to sky high figures which eventually reached 659 per 100,000. Sadly a failure by Drakeford.

Imagine if Welsh Govt had listened to the Tory voices that opposed the firebreak. Well done Professor Drakeford.
Yes it should have been longer, but a date was given beforehand due to the Tory pressure.

The firebreak was a good call. You are right there was huge pressure from the Welsh Conservatives who were extremely critical in the press but they weren’t so vocal when Boris followed suit with his lockdown few weeks later! I can imagine Drakers was under huge pressure about the commitment to end the lockdown and if he’d given his word before hand he’s stuck between a rock and a hard place, however coming out of a firebreak in to a relatively unrestricted state of affairs allowed Covid to get back on the front foot. The firebreak was right, coming out was right but there should have been restrictions.

All evidence suggests a two week firebreak was always going to be too short you only have to look at what happened since. Drakeford was only following Starmer's policy which even starmer has said was wrong in hindsight.
