Not sure if it's lockdown making me nostalgic, but the Jan Molby era holds very fond memories! Class in a glass

He was, and as shite as we were they were great days. He made Steve Torpey in to a confident footballer. Still couldn’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo but looked great (not) doing it.

Possibly a marquee singing , what with the Liverpool connections about in that era .
Not the worse player/manager we ever had .

i remember him standing in the centre circle and pretty much pointing to the other players where they should be standing and where the ball was going

Lord_Jack increasingly detached from the riches of kicking a ball

Didn't work for half of them though JL.

OK I've changed it.

That’s exactly how it was. Saw Trundle play for the reds down Stebonheath and it was exactly the same thing.

Molbly just stood on the raised centre circle on the Vetch, caught the ball on his massive chest and started spraying it around everywhere, barely moved much. Definitely gave our players a huge lift.

That's where the groundsman put him to help mark out the centre circle...

I remember he sprayed it once straight over Shiltons head.
The celebration across the front of the NB and the breasts were amazing.

OK I've changed it.

Molby is my favourite Liverpool player of all time. Loved watching him camp out in the centre and dominate the game by spraying pin point passes across the field.

Remember him picking himself as sweeper for a couple of matches and pinging balls left and right for the wingers - inch perfect every time

A class it 5 above any other players around our leagues at that time

This is Patches O'Houlihan saying "Take care of your balls, and they'll take care of you."

Fantastic player. Loved watching him play. Not a very good Manager. Made a big mistake to pick himself for the Wembley play off final but that’s easy to say on reflection.

He’d started picking himself at centre half by then and it didn’t really work. He also bought Joao Moreira back in time for that game which was a bit odd.

Jan Molby would come into the Harry Griffiths bar after some games and chat to the fans.
On one occasion one of our group asked him what he thought of one of our players who had a bad game.
He replied in his scouse accent "Yes he was shit wasnt he?"
After the semi final play off win against Chester we were still in the Harry Griffiths bar celebrating into the early hours.
I got up on a table to sing. Next one up was Jan himself.
How football has changed. Great times and wonderful memories.

Nah, it was poor time keeping from the ref and experience from John Frayne. If Coates hadn’t have broken from the wall the free kick wouldn’t have been re-taken and we would have gone to extra time.

Have to admit, loved watching him, Ian Callaghan , and Tommy Craig playing,

Loved the era in which he was a Jack. Went down to a pre season game one very very hot July evening at Morecambe who were several steps down the football pyramid at the time, we were are usual gash selves and we managed to nick a 1-1 draw. During some verbal barracking from the fans aimed at Torpey ( I was prob sat in with the home supporters if memory serves ) Big Jan starts to climb into the home end to sort out the culprits. On the way out overheard two fans talking, they were saying that having been beaten by Stockport days earlier this sort of opposition was more there level, fùckin cheek i thought wonder if the twàts still thought like that 15 years later.

Steve Jones' injury in the semi cost us promotion.

Caused all sorts of selection problems including (IIRC) Penny having to slot in at RB.
