Argentina have been poor recently, only just qualified and were hammered by Spain. Trying to hold a team around the ego of Messi will hopefully end up in an early exit.

Messi looked like a spent force. Ronaldo on the other hand looks like a man on a mission. On that showing they deserve to go.

I hope they go ahead further..Just like their terrific semi final achievement in 1998 (one of my earliest memories) I couldn't be more satisfied at what happened to those Argentine smug c*ntfaces Messi,Higuain and sh!tfaced Dybala.. Caballero has always been a comedian since his days at Man City. Surely I've never seen or heard of a good Argentine keeper in history..Romero,Lux etc are all sh!thouse keepers. Messi might be able to cut it against the likes of Eibar and Las Palmas but his good days have passed.. Hopefully they'll be so shut out of confidence now Nigeria rips them an another one. Referee was weak and tbh the quality in this tournament is low. So low Coatia (or even England) could get to the final.

Don't mind Lineker or the majority of pundits with the exception of Lawrenson & Keane. I find Kevin Kilbane a very good pundit

I like him,Would be great for the championship but he'll probably cost up to 7 m in today's f*cked up market, would we really spend that much on a CB?

Depends on who leaves. If Fed's off I'd prefer to spend on Bronn than rely on Bartley to partner Van Der Hoorn. On the other hand no one is looking at Mawson who is on a fairly low wage.

I agree about the Bartley part..But if Fernandez leaves..I'm worried it's going to be on a loan deal and you know how terrible these deals are..If we get a decent fee..then Bronn would be my 1st option to replace him.

Germany are poor but well to them for sticking at it and pulling a win from a desperate position. Was Durmazat got at? Two unnecessary fouls in almost identical position in the final minutes.

Totally agree. They had an extra man, but seemed happy to allow the Germans to come at them and defend. They should have used their extra player and pressed the Germans, when they had the ball all they had to do was pass it around and stop the Germans getting the ball. They were very naive and it cost them the game and maybe a place in the next round. I can see Germany winning the next game, but Sweden will have to beat Mexico and that’s gong to be a tough one.

Seriously though..some match that was (we're having many of those luckily)..And Kroos's last minute free kick..We all knew he was going to put that in..Yet when it actually happened it was a great surprise nonetheless. F*cking superb. Feel bad for the Swedes though.

I would say they might happen more in advanced stages (although these games must have a winner eventually of course)..Because in the group stages teams have those "must win" games therefore they play more expansive games and can't afford to cower in the back..if they don't score they get disqualified. Meanwhile in knockout stages..many teams play it safe and defensive. And many park the bus completely and try to take their chances with penalty shootouts..Which resorts into tight 0-0 matches.
