Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Can't these Yanks put their nationality to good use and get the city of New York tourist board to sponsor the stadium through one of it's most iconic landmarks?

And I don't mean the Central Park Stadium

In the article there's already talk of income from the letting of the lease of £750,000 per year.Fine whilst we are in the Premiership, not so fine if we end up in the lower leagues.
As has been pointed out long term leases can be used as collateral for borrowing, they can also be sublet.
The suggestion of naming rights doesn't need a change of ownership. That can be negotiated as things stand.
There are far too many dangers with this to let it happen without careful thought.

If we dropped out of the Premier League and couldn't afford £750k pa then we'd renegotiate. After all, who else would lease the place?

The whole thing calls for people to be sensible. To their credit the council are obviously coming round to the idea of taking a back seat in the running of the place in return for a regular income. That should make it easier for the Yankees to run the place and strike the kind of commercial deals that they're obviously hoping to.

PS The Special Purpose Vehicle will be 100% owned by Swansea City LLC, the Yanks investment vehicle along with Martin Morgan and wife's holding.

This is a repetition of the common misreading of that resolution nookie. I've mentioned that it's been misinterpreted before. Not sure why it started or who by, but it's wrong.

So if things get into a downward spiral what happens if the Yanks own the stadium and refuse the club to play there unless club pays exorbitant rental or buys the Yanks out at exorbitant premium.

Would we then play at Scarlets stadium?

The Yanks will have incredible leverage and they will own the stadium 100% through the Special Purpose Vehicle. The Trust will have no stake in the ownership of the stadium.

When other fans hear The Liberty Stadium they aren't thinking about an obscure company, so perhaps they are sub-consciously thinking about the real meaning of the word. It's the most classy name in the Premier League so I hope that we keep it for as long as possible.

Then that would leave the Yanks with a stadium that they can't find anyone else to play in.

It is in nobody's interests for the stadium to be empty. Not the council now, nor any prospective purchasers. This isn't a mass sporting market with teams just dying to get their hands on the place. It's us or nothing.

And I don't even include the Ospreys in that given their crowds barely fill a third of the capacity most of the time.

If council continues to own stadium you never get into a Ricoh stadium scenario

The Yanks will set up a 100% owned Special Purpose Vehicle by Swansea City LLC.. The Special Purpose Vehicle will acquire the stadium from the council. The Trust will have no stake in the Special Purpose Vehicle. The Special Purpose Vehicle will acquire the stadium by mortgaging the stadium.

The Special Purpose Vehicle will then rent out the stadium to Swansea City 2002 Ltd (the club).

The Trust will not be party to any of this or have any stake in this as cannot block it as does not have more than 25% stake.

We will hear inevitable statement that the Trust is building bridges though?

Coventry didn't play in the Ricoh for 1 year and if you take a look over Internet seems to be an ongoing debate whether they should now play in 'Butts' stadium'.

My point is I don't think Trust will have any stake in ownership of Liberty.

Down the line will give the Yanks considerable leverage and so we should resist their ownership of the stadium.

Excuse my ignorance here but I thought that these talks were over the leasing of the stadium, not the ownership of the stadium?

They are - there are no plans to buy the stadium just to take control of it through a lease so we can gain the commercial advantage that the trio-partite agreement has hindered us from

The biggest one of those being the naming rights

Coventry didn't. Wasps did. It's a reverse of the situation here. Rugby gets bigger crowds than the football. If the Ospreys left the WR then who would miss them?

Point is the Swans are the only game in town as far as a viable tenant is concerned. There's not a chance in hell barring one or two games against Cardiff or the Scarlets that the Ospreys will pull in big enough crowds to make the place pay for itself, so what benefit would there be in charging enough to drive the Swans away whoever owns it?

SCFC are in a strong position whoever owns the place, or should be.

The Yanks will be in the strong position - as they 100% and not the Trust will own the stadium.

It makes you think whether the Trust could raise the Finance to buy the stadium - on the back of mortgaging the stadium - that would set the cat amongst the pigeons.

And Nookiejack wouldn't it have been wonderful if the Trust had sold their shares for £22m.
What a position they would have been in as owners of the ground. But original thought like that wasn't part of their ethos.

What is the reason behind a post like that when you well know that the Trust were not given the opportunity to make a decision on selling their shares for such an amount due to the deceitful way the takeover took place?

Seriously, what is your reason for that post?

It just maybe worth Trust investigating whether they could raise the finance to buy the stadium -using the stadium as security.

However I suppose the Yanks then wouldn't have to play at Liberty and rent stadium off Trust - they could rent out Principality stadium and play there.

Swans in talks to take control of stadium on 22:47 - Feb 17 with 2614 viewsCopperJack

I'm not at all convinced that the yanks will actually buy the stadium. They're yet to invest a penny into the club. Their penny pinching in the summer started us off with the worst squad we've had since the championship, and January's transfers were financed with loans. So, what are the chances they are going to take out a loan to finance this purchase/leasehold and riddle the club with the debt?

My position is to sell bank the £20m and wait until inevitable downward spiral and for Trust to take full ownership. I don't want Americans, Chinese, Russians or Arabs to own the club - I want the people of Swansea to own their local club. I don't want influence I want the fans to truly own the club.
