I mean, people patted themselves on the back for Obama being elected, "first black President". True equality means that statement would never have been made or considered. Same with Hillary. Wanted "first female President" meaning better candidates on the Democrat side lost out - and frankly imo if they'd had say Sanders against Trump there would be a different President today.
Trump certainly rode the game show, popularity driven "I'm not like them" politics but the Democrats made it a lot easier for him by wanting a candidate based upon identity politics rather than actual ability. |  |

Actually, "I'm not blind" in this case, could mean many things. He's not blind to her bigotry could easily have been the case.
If I were him, I wouldn't have had my aide to issue an apology, I would have doubled down, "I said "I'm not blind" because I do not wish to consort with someone as bigoted and hypocritical as her".

Really depends on how you assess intelligence. Knowledge in one field may not transmit well into others.
I used to teach a kid, lovely friendly lad, he was hardly blessed with intelligence, his results were bang average at best, but due to family contacts, had a place in Cambridge. He is now a Barrister which frightens the hell out of me. [Post edited 15 Feb 2017 13:23]

Actually I have read the messages on display by Davis, and the apology now, fully, and not sure it does mention anything about her appearance, only what people have implied.
As for the point made, they might get more comments on appearance, often by other women, but it does not make it sexist or "misogynist" (something she claimed in the interview) commenting on someones looks. Women tend to get more upset by it than men, thus it does not have the same effect on the males when it is done, hence why it is done less in that case. [Post edited 15 Feb 2017 13:52]

Seems Abbott has a complaint for everything. Sexism, misogynistic, racist....almost as if she was narcissistic enough to not accept any culpability for her own actions.
Read an interview she gave years ago, where she accepted she played up in school but blamed it on being the only "black" girl in the class so the teacher may not have known how to handle her...
I'd also say a lot of comments on womens appearances come from other women - who can be incredibly bitchy and catty. It'd thus a double standard to call out men as "sexist" or "misogynistic" for doing so whilst not applying similar terminology towards women indulging in the same activities. | |
