If you could spend a night in a pub/club that's been long closed down where would you spend it?
For me it's got to be Shades, queue outside for ages, pay to get in, getting mullerd on Hazy Dayz (jack sullivan's version of Hooch), trying your hardest to pull the best looking trout, coming out smelling like an ashtray, kebab in the Kingsway diner, Taxi home (hopefully +1) .... time machine anyone 😎

Threads such as these I think tend to bring out a sort of false nostalgia (is nostalgia false by definition?).
We tend to remember an idealised version of either our youth or someone else's that wasn't necessarily true.
I remember The Inbetweeners being praised for the inverse: conveying the awkwardness, insecurity and largely unsuccessful youth many of us actually had. |
