totally agree. He was superb and reads the game well.

When Amat comes back will it be Ash that loses his place?

Apart from their 2 nd goal when he dived into a tackle which he never had a chance of winning

Unconvincing

Still Amat for me .

Another + point, we played one of the biggest clubs in the country, and we're all gutted that they took a point from us.

How the hell are Newcastle one of the biggest clubs in the country?

They haven't won anything since Adam was a boy FFS

Did you not see the 2nd goal ? None of the defence were "superb" today

Up the that point he was superb. I'm not sure he had a lot of choice with that either as we were horribly exposed. Maybe he should have stayed on his feet but he obviously thought he would get to it (as I did initially).

More commanding than Amat for me. Very assured, strong in the air, reads the game so well, cool head, simple distribution. What's not to like. He's Chico+ without a doubt.

Are you saying that they are a small club like Arsenal were until they won the FA Cup earlier this year?

Eh? He won everything in the air today. Either that or his stunt double did.

Whether they are a big club or not is irrelevant. It's the worst Newcastle team since, possibly including, they went down

well I thought he wan his aerial duels, was composed in the tackle, cut out cross balls and never looked panicked all game

yes he missed one tackle (which wasn't his to make) but hey ho - I think we've got a great player on our hands

That's your opinion and fair enough. Some may say that have good players but are not (for whatever reason) playing well as a team.

I am saying that our expectations are in a different league than they were just a few years ago.

What are you on about?

You cannot seriously be comparing Newcastle's record with Arsenal.

Astonishing.

Agree with what you say but to add I thought he was hesitant in playing out from the back.

Early days but is improving, as he settles.

Hope there is more to come

Definitely far too keen to play a pass instead of taking the ball out himself. Hard to tell if that's a preference or a tactical decision though.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Hope it's not tactical as every player should have options to play if they see space.

Hope it's just 'new boy' playing safe.

He looks a class act to me.

Give him 6 months to settle into a new country, team & language and I'm sure he'll be head and shoulders above our other defenders.

Why would you accuse someone of being angry and losing all sense of perspective because they have a different opinion to you. Like some ploy to discredit their opinion.

It actually comes over to me that you are angry because posters don't agree with you and are saying what they feel rather than painting a rosy picture.

I would say he isn't great in the air, I would say Chico was better and he was by no means the best in the air either. He also did mess up for the goal

I also think he is an elegant player who has been settling in well and generally plays very well for us.

I've been saying that Amat should start when fit based on what I've seen from him.

Today was far more promising. He has been dreadful in the air but won the majority today.

Aside from his silly dive tackle out of position which led to them tapping in their second then he was impressive today.

I'm talking about us being gutted by not winning against a big club like Newcastle. It shows how far we gave come over recent times.

I'm not comparing any big club's records against each other, or that you have to win a trophy to be considered a big club. Newcastle get 50k home gates and to me they are a big club.

Fernandez did ok, but 'superb' is a bit ott

Improving every game though and will hopefully continue to.

A few too many long balls for my liking.

Poll: League 2 Mod , Darr, but we are now in Prem - time for a change ?

And me too. No good in the air, passes too much!? I think a few have had too many sherbets. He looks pretty much like our most assured CH already. I assume it's because he doesn't go charging up the pitch like a headless Chico that people think he's a bit dull.
