We have learned earlier this morning that Gwangju FC have agreed to sell Eom Ji-sung (put the Eom where you want in his name) to Swansea City. After a week of negotiations and the player very keen to move to west Wales and Championship football it seems the transfer will be announced in the coming week.
We keep our fingers crossed on that one after the Gautier Ott deal.
There will of course be add ons especially if the Swans sell on Eom. We now know he has been withdrawn from the Gwangju squad for tomorrow nights fixture against Jeju United. It’s a timely report as midnight today see’s the end of declarations for finances (profit and sustainability) tomorrow, July 1st means any business runs over to 2026.
The twenty two year old winger is a celebrity character in South Korea and his arrival in Wales will elevate that interest considerably as it did when the Swans signed Ki Sung-yueng in 2012.
We have reported this on numerous occasions and warned that the Swans won’t be declaring any transfers until after June 30th. We also expect Jerry Yates to be confirmed as a loan player to Derby County in what we have been told was ‘immense interest’ from a number of clubs wanting his services. The financial balancing act continues. Nathan Tjoe-A-On, remains of interest to Oxford United and any expected movement, if agreed, will also come later this week.
You can expect the transfer game to get rolling from tomorrow morning, especially at Swansea City, and we have been told, don’t be surprised if another striker leaves this summer.
That is the latest on Eom this morning.
