I'd say that's easier to do in rugby because the ball (egg?) moves much slower around the pitch / the pitch is bigger. In football every part of the pitch could be used in 10 seconds, so this would be dangerous to players (and physios).
But 100% should stop the clock when ball is not in play, I think there was a study that the ball is in play less than 60 mins in the premier league... that is 1/3 of the game just gone and nobody ever questions it. How many times have we seen 10-15 mins a half wasted due to injuries, subs, time wasting and the fourth official deems it suitable to add 3-4 mins.
The thing is nobody knows because the club has designed it that way.
That leads to rumours, which leads to hope, and if we don't sign Saito will lead to real frustration.
If we were told the story we'd understand the reasons why we can/cannot sign him, leaving us in the dark leaves a void, which needs to be filled by speculation.
People looking at the shower of sh*t squad we have and what Marti has to field... and putting the blame on Marti is mind boggling. Even Pep couldnt polish this turd.
He singlehandedly saved us last season, and imo he's saved us this season as this squad (especially with injuries) shouldn't be anywhere above 22nd in the league.
Maybe a relegated team, but why would he leave for a failed top 6 side.
He has built a team which looks more and more likely to be able to mount a top 6 push next season (maybe even this season!!).
He has job security here, a fanbase which loves him (even when we were bottom) and it would be much more impressive and raise his CV to get top 6 with us, than get top 6 with a West Brom where they are expectant upon that.
But even still that is a crazy difference. How they think we can be 13x less likely to make it is strange. Also, odds are based on punters and maybe Cov's past few years means more people are backing them to make it.
Chair is an absolute joy to watch in the middle, but away games or games we expect less of the ball - Varane, Field & Morgan offers more steel, with Colback off the bench.
Saying that, watching Chair in that first half dictating is why you pay to watch football.
